Hi! I'm Anya, and I'm currently a student at the University of Michigan who's passionate about sharing my knowledge. I am a recent University of Utah graduate with a B.S. in Exercise Sports Science and a minor in chemistry. I am currently taking a year off between hopefully matriculating into medical school fall of 2016. I have done extensive coursework in biology, physics, chemistry, biochemistry, trigonometry, calculus, psychology, sociology, and lab sciences. I have also recently taken the new MCAT and believe that I can teach my tools for success to any pre-student willing to learn them. I have been a teaching assistant for both General Chemistry I and II for two semesters each and have taught CPR, AED, First Aid to Salt Lake City Citizens. I have always enjoyed teaching, specifically being able to teach one-on-one. Connecting with students, making them feel comfortable to express concerns, and then being able to pinpoint and fix the issue that is stopping them from achieving academic excellence makes tutoring extremely rewarding.

I am a graduate of Rice University where I received my Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering with a specialization in Biotechnology and Bioengineering. Currently, I am a first-year medical student at Baylor College of Medicine who loves helping students reach their academic and professional goals. Hi there! I'm a part-time graduate student studying public health and data science at NYU, and in undergrad, I double majored in anthropology and biology at UVA. I'm originally from the Washington, DC area, but I currently live in NYC where I work as a research analyst at a healthcare real estate investment trust.My first job at 16 sparked my passion for teaching, when I was a math instructor at Mathnasium. I taught all levels of math through Calculus AB/BC to students ages 4-19. I've had the opportunity to gain more experience since, TA'ing chemistry in college and even getting to design and teach my own 2-credit anthropology seminar.I hope to instill the understanding that learning is lifelong and gradual, and I believe students deserve patience and respect while they navigate their own learning styles -- I'm excited to work alongside other passionate and curious minds while helping you ace your exams in the process :)

I graduated from Williams College in 2007. I then received a Watson Fellowship, and traveled to Romania, Hungary, the Ukraine, and Morocco, collecting oral narratives from women in minority groups. Upon returning to the U.S., I began the PhD program in Comparative Literature at Northwestern University, with a focus in early 20th-century Latin American literature. I just finished my doctorate in December of 2014.During my time at Northwestern, I taught a variety of language and literature courses in both English and Spanish. I was also able to travel extensively: I studied and conducted research in Berlin, Paris, London, Sao Paulo, Montevideo, and Buenos Aires, where I lived for nearly three years.I love teaching and talking about anything to do with words--whether that means literature, reading comprehension, writing skills, grammar, or simply building vocabularies. I tutor the SATs, GRE verbal, AP Spanish, and Spanish language at all levels. I have a relaxed and approachable manner, and encourage my students to cultivate their own distinct intellectual style and to relate their studies to other kinds of interests. In my experience, students are most successful when they combine test-taking strategies with an authentic curiosity and an ability to enjoy what they are doing (even for standardized tests!). Learning and teaching always go hand in hand, and so when I am not teaching, I try to spend my time learning something new: I love reading, especially long novels, I have practiced yoga for six years, and lately I am interested in silent-era cinema, the history of medicine, and learning how to play my brand-new pineapple ukulele.

I received my B.A. at Hartwick College, with a focus on biology, chemistry, and psychology. I have always loved and excelled in science, thus, after my freshman year, I was invited to tutor biology and chemistry. At first, I was tutoring introductory courses, but as I gained more experience I started teaching advanced courses such as organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, etc. As I continued my college career, I became interested in physics and psychology. I kept taking physics and psychology courses to satisfy my curiosity and even ended up writing a thesis in psychology. The school at the time lacked science tutors, thus I decided to add physics and psychology to my tutoring list. Senior year I was tutoring the majority of chemistry and biology courses offered by the school and 100 and 200 level physics and psychology courses. Currently, I am a regenerative and cancer cell biology master's student at Albany Medical College. I choose this program because it focuses on applying biochemistry, biology and chemistry principles to living systems.I went to college with a dream of becoming a doctor and am still on the pre-med path. This summer I tackled the biggest enemy of a pre-med: the MCAT. Like every other pre-med, I was terrified of that exam and thought that I was not good enough to get a decent score. I was continuously discouraged as I felt that I was not improving my score. However, I employed various strategies and approaches to face the MCAT from new angles. As time passed I realized that 60% of the MCAT is test-taking strategies rather than background knowledge. With a new and correct mindset, I studied hard and finally mastered the science sections. I am excited to share my knowledge and teach others how to tackle the MCAT and move one step closer to their dream of becoming a doctor.

A highly motivated and hardworking individual currently achieving a doctorate in physical therapy. Ive also taught mathematics to students in the public schools in Fall River and New Bedford, Massachusetts.Respected by my colleagues for my problem solving and leadership skills, I possess the power and ability to empower others to create a collaborative and cooperative team.
