I am a California native who resides in Chicago. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Cognitive Science and chose to minor in Education because I wanted to be better equipped for my roles as a mentor and tutor. During college I provided homework help and college preparation for high school students in Oakland and I worked as a literacy tutor for elementary aged children. Since graduation, I gained three years of experience as an after school program tutor leading educational games and computer-based tutoring. Even though I have a strong background in English, I can also tutor elementary to middle school math. My favorite subject to tutor is Math because understanding the basics opens up a whole new world of numbers to explore. I am very patient so I don’t mind giving my students a moment to grasp a concept or describing it in new ways until it is better understood. My philosophy is that students just need support and encouragement when they are frustrated with the problems they are trying to solve. Aside from trying to bring out the potential in students I enjoy a myriad of hobbies including playing guitar, juggling, and bowling.

I recently graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Biology and a minor in Anthropology. After graduation, I took the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and began applying to medical school. I moved to New York City in early August where I am currently working as a Research Assistant at Columbia University Medical Center while I continue the year-long medical school application process.
