I am a California native who resides in Chicago. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Cognitive Science and chose to minor in Education because I wanted to be better equipped for my roles as a mentor and tutor. During college I provided homework help and college preparation for high school students in Oakland and I worked as a literacy tutor for elementary aged children. Since graduation, I gained three years of experience as an after school program tutor leading educational games and computer-based tutoring. Even though I have a strong background in English, I can also tutor elementary to middle school math. My favorite subject to tutor is Math because understanding the basics opens up a whole new world of numbers to explore. I am very patient so I don’t mind giving my students a moment to grasp a concept or describing it in new ways until it is better understood. My philosophy is that students just need support and encouragement when they are frustrated with the problems they are trying to solve. Aside from trying to bring out the potential in students I enjoy a myriad of hobbies including playing guitar, juggling, and bowling.

I recently graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Biology and a minor in Anthropology. After graduation, I took the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and began applying to medical school. I moved to New York City in early August where I am currently working as a Research Assistant at Columbia University Medical Center while I continue the year-long medical school application process. I look forward to matriculating into medical school in Fall 2016.As an undergraduate at Emory University, I was motivated to share my passion for math and biology with others in the community, so I became a Teaching Assistant for a basic health education course and an introductory biology lab on campus; I also served as a tutor for Emory Reads, a campus organization that tutors underserved elementary and middle school students in math and reading. The most rewarding and exciting component of tutoring is exposing students to new fields and instilling the confidence in them to explore subjects areas that they may not have considered to be their strength.Patience is one of my key attributes as an individual, and this translates perfectly to my role as a tutor. I will not give my students the answers to their questions right away. Instead, I will guide them along the right path so they can arrive at the correct answer by themselves. Giving away answers robs students of their valuable opportunity to grow as a learner by making connections between different concepts, integrating them, and applying them to a particular question. Students always walk away from tutoring sessions with more confidence when they arrive at the correct answers on their own.In my spare time, I enjoy exercising and supporting my hometown Atlanta professional sports teams; I am an especially enthusiastic baseball and tennis fan.

I am a graduate of New York University and majored in Economics and Math. I realized I enjoyed tutoring in college when I would create study sessions with my peers and saw first hand how positively people can react to one on one practice. I started tutoring at university because I truly enjoyed helping others and knew with a little guidance I can teach anyone the proper ways to solve what looks like a difficult problem. I am a friendly, motivated tutor looking to help students that need a little boost to get some difficult concepts down. I am proficient in maths ranging from basic algebra to calculus and will work whenever and with whoever is willing to improve their skills

I am currently in my undergraduate at Arizona State University majoring in Mechanical engineering with a minor in Biochemistry. I am passionate about tutoring students through difficult subjects because I too have needed tutoring to get through certain classes. From my experience tutoring has changed my outlook on classes and has made me become a better student, so I want to be able to provide others with that same help that I have needed in the past. I have experience teaching a wide range of ages from young elementary school students all the way up to college students. This has allowed me to become good working with all ages and all skill levels. As far as my favorite subjects to tutor, I would say anything math related up to Calculus. My teaching philosophy is not to do each problem for the student while they watch but rather work through it with them together step by step and try and push them to show me what they know and what they need help with.

I am passionate about helping students getting the knowledge and training they need to be successful. Getting that extra help may be the difference in getting into your desired school or getting the job of your dreams.I have worked with high school students preparing for SATs and college, and also have done mentorship programs for iMentor teaching high school and grade school students.I did my Bachelor in Business Administration at Pace University, doing a double major in Finance and Management Information Systems. After work experience, I then obtained my Master in Business Adminstration from New York University (NYU Stern), with concentrations in Corporate Finance and Global Business.I also have professional certifications in project management (PMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-RMP), cryptocurrency (Certified Bitcoin Professional), Series 7, real estate salesperson license.I am also working towards a Masters of Science in Digital Currency at the University of Nicosia.I tutor mainly in Math and English prep (SAT, GMAT and school prep), and professional certifications in project management (PMP and its variants). I really enjoy these test prep and professional certifications as having a solid plan of attack in studying and testing prep can make a huge difference in test scores. My teaching philosophy is to make sure you understand the concepts for trying to tackle a problem. Read and re-read the question to ensure you understand what the question is asking you, and that will save you more time than you expect and also ensure that you don't make any careless errors. My interests outside of academia include technology, investing, cryptocurrency and blockchain, gaming and sports.

Graduating from UNC Chapel Hill in 3 years and securing my Master's just a year later, I'm well versed in navigating the education system and getting the most from it.Since high school, I've been tutoring. Friends, family, personally, and professionally, I've run the gamut. While I have tutored almost every subject, I specialize in STEM and Standardized Testing. In my view, building academic skills and confidence go hand-in-hand, when you feel knowledgeable it's much easier to demonstrate that knowledge. I take pride in meeting my students where they're at, helping them digest the subject in a way that just 'clicks' for them.
