My motivations for becoming a tutor stem from the relationships I built with educators during my time as a student. It is because of the support I received from my teachers, professors, and tutors that I have such a strong passion for academia. I aspire to provide those whom I tutor with a similar sense of enthusiasm for learning.I am a graduate of Clark University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and I have also taken coursework in various disciplines of mathematics and business. During college, I gained experience tutoring in two primary ways. First, I was the teaching assistant for one of Clark's Linear Algebra courses. As the teaching assistant, I held office hours for the students enrolled in the course, during which they could come to me with any questions related to the lectures, homework, or exams. I also have experience teaching middle school students through the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program in the Worcester Public School system. While participating in the AVID program, I tutored a variety of subjects including Biology, History, English, Algebra, and Geometry. While I have experience in a broad range of subjects, I am particularly passionate about the fields of Mathematics and Economics.

I am a second year in the Sophie Davis Program for Biomedical Education. I hold an Associates Degree from Bard College, which I obtained while still in high school. As a pre-medical student, I have a deep love for the sciences but I also love learning new things. My favorite subject to tutor would be Spanish but I am also proficient in English, Writing, Biology, and Algebra. I have been tutoring for four years and have experience tutoring elementary to high school students. I believe that when tutoring I should allow students to explain their confusion so that we can work together towards the advancement of their knowledge. Just lecturing or telling you the answer isn't enough! Outside of school, I love cooking, exercising, reading, doing research, and volunteering.

I received my Bachelors in Finance and Masters in Secondary Education at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. During and after my studies, I have been tutoring and teaching high school math students for the past five years. I am a certified Math teacher in the state. Algebra II has been my favorite class to teach and tutor! I believe the skills and reasoning learned in Math will take you a long way in life.Outside of teaching Math, I enjoy playing volleyball and hiking!

I graduated from The George Washington University in 2015 with a BA in International Affairs. After graduating college, I moved to the Mississippi Delta to teach with Teach for America. Teach for America (TFA) is an AmeriCorps program that recruits, trains, and places top college graduates in high needs schools throughout the country. During my time with TFA, I taught a variety of science courses in my placement high school, including state tested biology. I am a certified biology and social studies teacher for grades 7-12. My time teaching has been both rewarding and challenging. One of my focuses as a lead science teacher was to work with students on college readiness. From ACT prep to rigorous lab based science instruction, we saw students grow five points on the ACT and increased the pass rate on the state exam. As my time with Teach for America comes to an end, I am excited to continue my commitment to education with Varsity Tutors. Currently I am working on a Master’s in Public Health at Emory University.

I recently graduated magna cum laude from Hamilton College with a B.A. in Economics and Government, and I just finished my first year at Columbia Law School this past May. I ran several student organizations at Hamilton and gained a lot of experience teaching and mentoring younger students. I really enjoy getting to know my students and I like to bring a sense of humor to my lessons to help keep them engaged. I have tutored students ranging from 3rd grade to seniors in college and I have experience tutoring a variety of subjects, but my favorite subjects to tutor are Economics, LSAT prep, Government, Essay Editing, and Public Speaking. I also find advising on college or law school admissions really rewarding. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy basketball, football, hiking and the outdoors, movies, and cooking.

I like literature and performing arts most in life. I tend to incorporate both into classes to blend into textbook work. If you're looking for a more creative approach to language, that's what I provide. I have plenty of books and media that I've used myself to further my own studies.

I strive to understand students' background and existing knowledge to better modify my lessons for each individual student.In addition to my love of science and education, I also enjoy writing and listening to music and developing and playing tabletop games.

I graduated from a liberal arts college (Carleton, near Minneapolis), which means that I experienced a tradition that values student perspectives and seeks to bring each individual to a conceptual space where (s)he can achieve by objective standards.I also believe very strongly that a teacher's primary obligation is for the safety and welfare of his/her students.
