I graduated from George Washington University, with a master's in public health and did my undergraduate degree at the University of Richmond. When I was little, I used to make my sister play teacher with me (she was always the student, poor thing). Now I enjoy tutoring students of all ages in a variety of subjects. It is great to see a student's scores improve as we work on practice tests and the different skills that they need.In my free time I love to travel. In Oct. of 2014 I left the country for the first time to travel to Zambia, Africa to visit a friend living there. It was an incredible trip. We sat in the devil's pool at Victoria Falls (I recommend looking up a photo). We also went on a safari and had many other great adventures. Since then I have traveled to Italy (also wonderful) and hope to do some more international traveling soon.I also enjoy working with my hands, crocheting, sewing, knitting, and especially cooking. I read when I have the time, and love to listen to audio books in the car.

After a few years of recording, touring, and writing, I decided to pursue a degree in opera. I spent my first two years of undergrad performing in operas, symphony concerts, and musicals when I felt called to turn my career towards the academy.I was accepted into the honors college and began thesis work on the aesthetic correlations between architect, Frank Lloyd Wright and composer, Ludwig van Beethoven.After being admitted into a research fellowship and pursuing research grants, I applied to Masters and PhD programs in musicology. Music has always been my passion but now, I am able to capitalize on my strengths and interests while still pursing a career in music.Along with my current research, I still sing professional and play as a studio musician in punk, folk, jazz, and metal.My experience allows me to bring the knowledge I have gained from performing and coursework to the classroom with interdisciplinary teaching methods and collaborative approaches. I hope I am able to work with you or your student to cultivate their passion for the arts.
