I am an undergraduate student studying Economics and Public Policy at the University of Chicago. I attended the Horace Mann School in New York City. I love teaching and working with students because I feel that there is nothing more rewarding than being able to provide the extra push that students might need to be successful. I am passionate about helping students learn and making sure they are having fun doing so. I'm also happy to talk about anything a student might want to talk about, academically, extracurricularly, or otherwise.

I finished my Master of Public Administration in Nonprofit Organization Management in 2014 from Pennsylvania State University, where I worked extensively as a teaching assistant and tutor throughout my 2 years there.Before that, I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in History from Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China. I recently graduated from Trinity University with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Science with a concentration in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics.I have always had a passion for teaching and my hopes are to help students overcome their difficulties. I believe that with practice, dedication, and a positive attitude, people can attain any goal. Everyone learns in different ways, and as a tutor I like to get to know the students and find a teaching style that works best for them.I was born in Quito, Ecuador and I grew up speaking Spanish. I have always been passionate about math and science and I love bringing my enthusiasm to students, helping them find joy and build confidence in problem solving and discovering for themselves. All students are natural learners when in a stress-free environment. I create safe, hands-on learning environments where students can ask questions, make and learn from mistakes, and think for themselves.

I am a recent graduate from Wayne State University and I majored in Honors Psychology and minored in Nutrition and Food Science. I will be attending the University of Michigan Medical School in July 2020. During my free time, I like to read, cook and explore Detroit!

I have many years of professional experience teaching and tutoring English, grammar and ESL at college and adult professional levels. I spent six years working as a one-on-one ESL teacher at a language school in France and have continued teaching online since I moved back to New York two years ago. I like to be creative with my teaching style, I incorporate a students personal interests and make the lesson fun whenever possible. I enjoy languages and cultures. I studied French full time at a private university in Lyon, France and speak french fluently. I love books, music and history. I also like art, gardening and cooking. I grew up in upstate NY and have traveled extensively. My early career was as an EMT-Paramedic, examiner and instructor for the state of Texas so my background is very diverse. I have the skills, desire and methods to help you succeed.

I am a graduate of Vassar College with a B.A. in Political Science. I put my Political Science education to use for more than a decade working in State and Local politics, first as a Communications Director for a New York State Senator and then as the Chief of Staff to the Putnam County Executive. I have also worked on many political campaigns for election and re-election. I decided to attend law school at night while working as Chief of Staff and I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Pace Law School. I completed a two-year term clerking for a Federal Judge and now I prosecute criminals with the Westchester District Attorney's Office. I have also taught Criminal Justice at the New Rochelle campus of Monroe College.I found that when I began teaching at Monroe College, an institution known for pulling most of its students from the poorest neighborhoods of the Bronx, that many of my students would have benefited tremendously from a one-on-one tutoring relationship. That is what has brought me to Varsity Tutors. I feel compelled to work with students who, for whatever reason whether it be their own personal learning style or the difficulties associated with classroom teaching, cannot get the help they need in the traditional classroom. I feel that I have an incredible understanding, being a classroom teacher, of exactly what students need but are unable to obtain from a lecture setting. I am excited to develop this personal relationship with students in a setting that will help them get as much out of their education as possible. Every student is an individual and every student has individual needs. I want to assess students based on this philosophy and tailor a curriculum that suits their learning abilities and strengths. I also love to read and have three, yes THREE, dogs who make my life very hectic but fill my home with much love.

Although I've never been the best student in the world, I've cherished my role as a teacher. Through a lot of hard work and joy of interacting with kids in elementary/middle school, I made it! I graduated from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and have a masters in elementary education. I also would like to add that I'm truly am a big kid at heart, so that's probably why I am very active with our students and get out in our twin cities community to help each other in real-world situations.
