I enrolled in Loyola Marymount University and majored in Film Production. During this period, I worked as a teaching assistant for a film study course where I gave lectures about "the Art of Cinema". I also worked as simultaneous translator in my part time for several Chinese-American educational program.Right now, I'm working as a professional commercial editor in a TV company. But I have endless passion in language and teaching. I would like to find some opportunities to sharing my knowledge towards mandarin and Asian & US film industry.I'm a passionate and caring person. In my teaching experience, when students actually learn the concepts and logic, not only does their math vastly improve, but they also learn to enjoy math, which is the ultimate goal. My qualifications include excelling at all high school math competitions including finishing second at the 1989 Colorado Math Olympiad. I also graduated from MIT at 19 years old.

I graduated from San Diego State in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. In June 2014, I obtained a Master of Arts in English from Portland State University. Additionally, I took mathematics classes in college up through Calculus III and Differential Equations. I am currently fulfilling the prerequisite courses for the teaching credential program at CSU San Marcos, where I will focus on high school English and Math. Math and English are the subjects I am most passionate and qualified teaching. I have successfully tutored in both subjects whether for class or standardized tests like the SAT and ACT. I have a good deal of knowledge regarding standardized testing strategies as well.My main goal for teaching and tutoring is preparing students for college. I learned very early in my college days about the importance of studying and critical thinking, since the classes were much more difficult than high school. I firmly believe that forming great study habits and developing the skills for studying with others are crucial for success, especially in preparing for college. With that said, I think what one does outside of class cannot be overstated; exercising, volunteering, and engaging in enriching hobbies tempers what one accomplishes at school. I like to do all three of these things, whether through going to the gym, hiking, fly fishing, playing sports or just working outside. I also volunteer in classes to assist younger students who need the most help, such as ESL students.

Here, I continued to teach in private and charter schools for six years while I worked toward my teaching credential at Cal State Dominguez Hills.I firmly believe that all learning can be interesting, and I try to impart my enthusiasm to my students. It is important to help students relate content to their own lives and environments so that they learn on a deeper level and can apply their knowledge in the future. As an English teacher, I love tutoring writing skills, literature, and vocabulary development, but I also really enjoy tutoring Algebra and SAT math. My well-rounded background gives me an advantage in SAT preparation, and my easy-going personality makes tests less stressful.When I am not working, I am usually swing dancing! I graduated from Caesar Rodney High School and became the 1st member of my immediate family to attend college when I decided to play football and major in Mathematics at the school that best suited my needs: Wesley College.Wesley's math program was small but filled with innovative professors and linked closely with an award winning chemical kinetic research department headed by renowned educator Dr. Malcolm D'Souza. The academic atmosphere encouraged constructive teamwork and helped me value virtuous collaboration and leadership skills. I studied applied and abstract mathematics while also learning pertinent information about the protocol for conducting research. The summer after my sophomore year I approached the chair of the mathematics department, Dr. Derald Wentzien, for permission to conduct an independent study about athletic participation in college. And in 2011, I begin researching Athletic Participation and itsTime Commitment as it Pertains to Academic Progress over the course of the fall semester while I lead the #3 ranked football team in Division III to our 3rd straight national semifinals appearance; the first time it had been done in its 141 year history.The following season I wrote The Art of Winning, a research study detailing the results of my findings, as well as the validity and implications of those results. I used my influence as a student-athlete, beat writer for the student newspaper The Whetstone, undergraduate researcher, and liaison for the Mathematics department to advocate for academic support and accommodations for underprivileged and underperforming students at Wesley College. I went on to accept a full scholarship to the University of Delaware's graduate education program and, in 2014, was hired by one of Delaware's most prestigious high schools, Cape Henlopen HS.I have spent the last 3 years executing rigorous versions of honors and college prep Statistics, Pre-Calculus, and Advanced Algebra.
