Teaching has been my passion from an early age. I have always enjoyed assisting students in their learning and their development of critical thinking skills. My education has been primarily focused on education and two specific content areas. I have a bachelor's degree from Hiram College in English and History. I also obtained a master's degree in Educational Studies with a minor in History from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in English from Cleveland State University. Along with my educational degrees, I am certified to teach 7-12 English and History. I have enjoyed a varied career in education working as an adjunct professor, substitute teacher, and tutor. I have worked with a diverse group of students from k-12 and adult learners as well as students with special needs and ESL students. Tutoring has been the highlight of my career. I see students improved most rapidly when given individualized attention and lessons. I am a senior at MIT majoring in Writing with a specialization in Digital Media. I have also completed a minor in Business Management. As one of ten writing majors at a school full of people pursuing science and technology rather than humanities subjects, I have taken a default position as tutor for anyone struggling with any writing assignments. I have helped fellow college students on a wide variety assignments ranging from analytic papers on race in the media, to papers on scientific theories, to scholarship essays. In high school I was a Link Crew tutor for three years, making myself available for tutoring sessions after school for whatever subject students required help in.But enough about my qualifications. For the last nine years I have taught at the high school level, where I have taught various history courses including Advanced Placement in all of the following: United States History, World History, and European History.I became a teacher because I wanted a job that did not fell like a job everyday with a rigid routine. What I have learned over the years is that each group of students is unique and I most enjoy the end of they year when we can reflect on the journey they took to achieve their success. I am most proud when my students tell me that I made them understand History and they previously saw themselves as bad history students. The reality is history is meaningful to everyone, but it is the teacher's responsibility to help the students make the connections bringing the past to life.

I am currently graduating from School for Advanced Studies high school and Miami Dade College with my Associates in Art both simultaneously. I am going to continue my education at Carnegie Mellon University. I tutor my peers and anyone that needs help in my family. I have a pretty wide range of what I can teach because of all the different people that need help. I am also able to teach in different ways to make sure that the student understands and masters the materials given. I tutor in all types of math and am flexible with the type of math students need help with. On my free time I play the French Horn with my school band and hang out with family and friends.
