I have spent my whole life being in love with learning and nothing makes me happier than the look in the eyes of people when everything clicks and they, "get it." That's why I have spent the past 5 years individually coaching college students in speech and debate and why I graduated with a degree in Communication from the University of Kentucky. My teaching style emphasizes clarity and adaptation. I work to multiply the ways a student can approach a question or problem to give them the most robust possible intuitions for the subject. In this way, my students learn not only for the immediate need, but for long term growth, as well. I have always enjoyed tests and love helping students learn to love them as well. I believe that any student can overcome anxiety and mental blocks on particular subjects when the tutor is adaptive to their needs. I'm eager to teach students how to make connections and understand any part of the world they need!

It is my purpose to use my skills in learning and making intuitive connections to help other students excel in subjects which I have already learned. Everyone needs help sometimes, and there is no shame in taking responsibility for doing one's very best in their education by asking for assistance when needed. I am committed to doing the best I can to contribute my part towards the success of my students, and I look forward to the opportunity to use my skills to help them master their classes.

I have a BA in English, Government, and Secondary Education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. I also have a Master of Arts in Christian Education and Leadership from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. My plan for the near future is to earn a Doctorate degree in Secondary Education from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. During the course of my 30 + years of teaching, I have one consistent observation: All students can learn! The challenge and excitement for me over the years is to figure out how my students learn and what motivates them to learn. I enjoy teaching in a classroom setting, but I thoroughly enjoy working one-on-one with students. I am fulfilled as a teacher in many ways such as when I can help one of my 10th graders past a difficult test or assist one of my seniors to perform well enough to get accepted to the college of his or her dreams! My strongest teaching passions are English literature and language. Outside the classroom, I play keyboards in a local band, I lift weights, and ride my Harley Davidson whenever I have opportunity.
