I corrected a practice exam I had the student take for the math test. Her score improved 100 points since our last session. She is doing well with time, using only 1 hr and 2 minutes of the 1 hr and 30 min she is given. Today we went over conic sections (graphs and equations), function manipulation of f(x,y), basic probability, properties of triangles/circles, powers of i, and i roots of functions. We also went over questions she had.

Test Prep Tutoring review by Hazel in Oak Forest, IL
Today we covered English, reading and some math. For the reading, she scored a 27, which is a good jump from the last exam that she took. She may need more exposure to certain genres and styles of writing. Her overall reading comprehension is strong. Lastly, we began working on the math section. She would do well by graphing out more of the word-problems and turning them into diagrams, and then using the diagrams in conjunction with formulas to get an answer, rather than trying to solve straight from the word-problem. Overall, she is making steady improvement and is on track to make her goals. I am suggesting that she finish her essay and complete another math and English section for the next tutoring session.
