As an EMT with 24 years of experience in the field of EMS and 15 years of experience as an Emergency Medical Services Instructor, I am able to bring both practical and academic sides to our experience together. Additionally, I have a Master's Degree in National Security and a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and Forensic Science.

I am a senior at the University of New Haven working on a B.S. in Forensic Science-Biology with a Pre-Medical designation who hopes to go to medical school in the future. I am most passionate about biology and chemistry but have a strong personal interest in history, especially topics overlooked in the past study of history. To me, learning is a life long process and leads to the development of a well-rounded individual. Seeing understanding of a difficult topic and creating enthusiasm for learning is what draws me to tutoring.
I graduated from the University of New Haven in May 2019 with a major in electrical engineering and a minor in mathematics. Since I am very passionate about math and science and do a lot of studying even in my spare time, it is a pleasure for me to have the opportunity to teach and share these exciting subjects with you.My most recent experience tutoring before joining Varsity Tutors was as a teaching assistant at my university for several semesters. Even when I was no longer a TA, I would still have students come to me for help with math and engineering help; some of them still do, and I'm happy to help when I have time. I received a lot of great feedback and really enjoyed working with students to help them learn challenging and interesting material, and I look forward to working with you as well.
I am a student at the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science and Criminal Justice. I have a strong background in math and science. I have taken and mastered up to Calculus 2, as well as multiple upper level biology and chemistry courses at the university level.
My personal statement is simple. I believe that every person can be successful so long as they are afforded the ability to learn in a way that makes sense to them, and I believe that every person should be treated like a person. I have found a love of teaching and of literature through teachers who have given me sage advice and treated me like a human. They met me where I needed them to meet me in order for me to succeed and they did not make me feel different or negatively for that. These adults were my inspiration and I feel as though this attitude should be shared throughout all aspects of life.
Hello! My name is Ben and for the past year and a half I have been tutoring math at all different grade levels. My main goal as a tutor is being approachable and creating a learning environment in which students feel comfortable to develop their skills. My degree in education as well as my liberal arts background give me the tools to approach tutoring from many different angles. I look forward to being your tutor!
I'm a Data Science graduate from the University of New Haven with a strong passion for teaching and simplifying complex concepts. My background combines real-world experience in data analysis, AI workflows, and software development, which allows me to bring practical, industry-relevant knowledge into every session. I specialize in teaching Data Science, SQL, Python, and AI-assisted coding. My approach focuses on helping students truly understand concepts rather than just memorizing solutions. I guide students through breaking down problems, thinking step-by-step, and building confidence in applying what they learn to real scenarios. I have experience working on AI and data projects involving data annotation, machine learning, and building applications using modern tools. This helps me teach not just theory, but also how these concepts are used in real jobs today. As a tutor, I adapt to each student's learning style. Whether you are a beginner starting from scratch or someone looking to strengthen advanced concepts, I create a structured and supportive learning environment. I focus on clarity, patience, and making learning interactive so students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas.
I have loved working with others since I was a little girl. My youthful energy, creative assignments and love for helping others makes me a fantastic choice for your tutor.I currently teach 5th grade and can't get enough of it! I am certified to teach kindergarten through 6th grade and have many credits in mathematics and special education. I attended Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY for my bachelors degree and then continued to the University of New Haven to earn my Masters in Education. Not only am I confident with content knowledge, but I am also proud of the rapport I have with students and my ability to help those that are struggling succeed. I love to see students that hated reading learn to love it. Additionally, I work hard to make those that find math difficult see the problems in a new way so that they do not feel overwhelmed. I enjoy music, hanging out with family and friends, cooking and being active. I look forward to working together to build a relationship that fosters a love for learning.
I am a graduate of Central Connecticut State University and University of New Haven. I graduated from University of New Haven with a Master's in Education, Secondary English Grades 7-12. I taught English for several years in the public school setting then worked in a juvenile training facility teaching English to at risk youth. I left teaching to raise my children during the past few years and have enjoyed tutoring on the side. I have worked with very diverse groups of students, abilities, and ages. No matter what the circumstances, though, I am able to develop a rapport with the student, which allows them to feel comfortable working with me as their tutor.I tutor a wide variety of subjects, but enjoy tutoring English writing and grammar the most. I love to read, so I want my students to feel as passionate about reading as I do. I also have a background in languages, which allows me to tutor foreign languages. I have traveled many places and been around many cultures so I feel this has made me a stronger teacher. I like to push my students while tutoring, but I like to make sure my student feels comfortable and are not afraid to ask questions if they are unsure of something. It is normal for children to struggle and often times they are not comfortable asking for help.In my spare time I love to travel, read, and hang out with my children. I love to see new places and experience new things.
I am a seasoned Math Teacher with 25+ years experience teaching a wide range of students from elementary, middle school, and high school to college level students. I enjoy helping to make a difference in the understanding of mathematical concepts by making it challenging as well as having fun learning.
I spend my days doing my favorite things in the world: educating and learning from creative, inquisitive kids. I currently create mathematics curriculum for several local school districts, teach pre-kindergarten physical education classes, and run a cooperative education program in the Naugatuck Valley of Connecticut. My current goal is to step back into the classroom and teach in an elementary school.Over the years I have worked in a variety of areas in the field of education. I have worked in many different settings with children of all ages, abilities, interests and backgrounds. My journey started while I was interning in the Hamden Police Department, in an effort to engage the community into the workings of the police department, the detective I was working under and I created a citizens academy to teach community members about law, and the police department. While teaching classes at our newly established, my intern supervisor insisted I should look into teaching, and pointed me in the direction of an alternative education program that would merge my interest in the field of law and all things legal and my talents within the classroom atmosphere. While still in my undergraduate college, I gained employment as a Behavioral Interventionist for the Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) Alternative school. I have learned through this experience how to interact and connect with challenging students, how to engage in conversation with them and how to work on their language skills from a beginner to intermediate level. I so enjoyed engaging these challenged students that I solidified my decision to enroll in the graduate of education program at the University of New Haven.
I am a postdoctoral fellow with a passion for research and clinical work. During my full-time job, I provide clinical services including psychotherapy and psychological assessments. I am also actively involved in academic research and have multiple publications.I joined Varsity Tutors to offer assistance to the next generation of psychologists and forensic mental health practitioners. I am happy to discuss the field of psychology and develop a study plan that will assist you in your goals.
