I am a graduate of The Mississippi Valley State University. Since graduation, I have become a Certified Math Teacher and Onilne Tutor. I focus on 6th to 8th grade, Algebra I, and College Algebra. I believe the students who stuggle in math can improve with the right mind set and with the right help.

My passion is teaching. I enjoy helping people learn and opening their minds to new opportunities and refreshing their spirits. I have been an educator for 18 years. God willing I will be an educator always.

Hello! I'm Miss Birdsong, and I absolutely love helping students discover their love for reading. I'm here to make phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and ELA feel approachable and attainable. With a background in both journalism and education from Christian Brothers University, I bring a unique blend of deep subject-area knowledge and proven teaching strategies to every session. My students consistently tell me about their "a ha" moments after we work together. I believe every student can excel in reading and ELA with the right guidance and a little patience. My experience as a teacher has spanned over 36 years to include working as an assistant teacher, teacher, lead teacher, elementary tutor, assistant principal, principal, educational consultant and trainer in the area of elementary education, and District Office Administrator. During my tenue as an educator and administrator, I have led several initiatives from the school and district level such as Early Childhood Act, High School Redesign Initiative: Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit partnering with local colleges and universities, and Literacy Based Promotion Act. I have also led in professional development trainings for teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, parents, students, and community providing support and resources to increase academic outcomes. As a veteran educator, I served as Curriculum Coordinator and Title I Coordinator before retiring in June of 2020. I have always had a passion for reading and social studies. Integrating the two and making reading the vehicle for students of poverty to soar across disciplines has been successful for me as an educator. Teaching reading and getting students to enjoy reading while learning is a rewarding accomplishment. I studied for two years at Mississippi Delta Community College then transferred to Mississippi Valley State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master's in Elementary Education. I later studied at Delta State University and received a Master's in Educational Leadership. I have had a rewarding career in education, and I look forward to continuing it as a tutor. Teaching has always been a way of life for me. I have 12 years of teaching experience from Pre-K to 12th grade. My desire throughout my educational career is to ensure that any student that I come in contact with, leaves more knowledgeable than they were before I met them. I have four degrees and I am currently seeking another degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Delta State University. I aspire to tutor students in English, Social Studies, and Writing. I love reading and writing. I have always been an ELA teacher and my students have done well. I look forward to enriching the lives of many more students as they grow to become more knowledgeable in English, Writing, and Social Studies.

I am a graduate of Mississippi State University, Freed Hardeman University, Mississippi Valley State University, and NOVA Southeastern University. I also, received an undergraduate degree in Home Teaching, Curriculum and Instructional Design, and Curriculum and Instructional Management and Administration. I have an extensive tutoring background in Reading, Math, writing, English Language Arts, and Science in Elementary and lower Middle School area. I am a former Elementary/Middle School teacher. While I tutor road range of subjects, I am most passionate about Reading, Grammar, Writing, and math and science in elementary/6th grade. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for the Standardized Tests, we always seem to have the most fun prepping for the Reading and Writing portion of the test. I am a firm believer that all children can learn. I believe that it is absolutely essential that my students share that same belief. It is important to me that my students believe in themselves and learn all that they can. In my spare time, I enjoy reading a good book, playing wordsearch, and playing Woody Block to keep my mind sharp and enrich my life. I also enjoy travel (be it virtual or in person), exercising, and going to football games. Another passion of mine is cooking the old-fashion way.
