I believe it takes many skills and attributes to be an outstanding teacher. Among them are: patience, a positive attitude, flexibility, understanding and being a good listener. Children are very perceptive and I believe they know a lot more than we think they do about people. One thing I would like to say about myself, is that I consider myself to be a team-player. Having worked in the business world, prior to becoming a teacher, I found that the most successful people were those who worked as a team. I believe that this can also be translated in the school environment. We are all working for the same team, the students! This means working together as educators, and always being open to ideas and suggestions from peers.

I have lived in Saint Augustine Florida for almost ten years now. I was a peer English tutor during my college studies. I have a teaching certification and degree in PreK to 6 th grade. I enjoy tutoring and like to utilize classic and online resources. I understand that there are several learning styles and personally fall into the visual learner category. I am a recent graduate of Manhattanville College with a degree in Biology. During my time at Manhattanville, I minored in Music, it was a way for me to keep my love of music alive while working toward the career I desired. While at Manhattanville, I held positions in White Plains, NY in tutoring students of various grade levels in many subjects. On a typical day I tutored 3-5 students in the subjects of Math, English, and various areas of Science. With my degree, and my experience in tutoring science, I am most comfortable tutoring the various areas of science: Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology, Astronomy, and Physics. I also enjoy tutoring in English and Economics, as I took a particular interest in them during college. I like to tutor in a building style, I get the student to recall the basics of a subject, and to work through a problem by deconstructing the it and working out the areas that are easy for them, then offering assistance to get them on the right track to the answer. Outside of tutoring and college I enjoy reading, mainly in the genre of science-fiction, cooking almost everything that can be thought of, and I also enjoy play video games in what free time I have.

I graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor's degree in English and Creative Writing. While pursuing my graduate degree in English Education at Manhattanville College, I have been fortunate enough to spend a significant amount of time in various classrooms. I have led classes in substitute and student teacher capacities and have observed several experienced teachers as well. My undergraduate education has provided me with a lot of English-specific knowledge while also enabling me to work in other content areas including math and test prep. In my spare time I can usually be found rooting on the Yankees, Giants, and Knicks, organizing a pickup game, or heading to the movies.

I am a 14 year veteran teacher with experience is elementary education kindergarten through 5th grade, general and special education. My masters degree concentration was in Reading Instruction of Students and Students with Special Needs. I have a background with students with a variety of disabilities., including learning disabilities, Autism, Developmental Delays, and Physical Impairments. I have trained in Orton Gillingham Reading Foundation Multi Sensory Programs and have access to programs to bring with me. I recently graduated from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY with my BA in English Literature and Secondary Education. My passion for English had started in my early days in elementary school when I used reading and writing as an escape, and a way to express my feelings when I felt like I wasn't being listened to. However my passion for Education arose when I found I genuinely enjoyed helping my peers with their homework, with lessons, and even with projects. I love to see the look of students and peers when they finally understand something that had been escaping them. I also just really like helping people in anyway that I can.Although, don't be frightened, I'm actually a pretty relatable person so if something is bothering you, don't be afraid and know you can tell me. I've helped many peers in the past both with their coursework and also with things that were bothering them. I recently graduated from Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science focusing on Legal Studies. I also completed a minor in Mathematics at Manhattanville College. Since graduation, I have spent a majority of my time working for tutoring companies in the Westchester area. I began tutoring during my sophomore year, about three years ago.
