About Me

Hi! Welcome to my page! My name is Sean Gawronski, I'm from Cincinnati Ohio, and am actively studying linguistics and computer science at the University of Pennsylvania. Beyond school, I am actively training for and exploring careers in artificial intelligence with a particular focus in machine translation and speech recognition systems. In my free time, I'm a huge sports buff, foodie, and a yogurt connoisseur! In the past, I founded and headed a student tutoring program that spanned across high school STEM, English and foreign-language subjects. With Varsity, I am continuing teaching those high school level concepts, as well as carrying my personal experience with standardized tests like the ACT, SAT, and Advanced Placement exams. Beyond course material, I also work with students with applying to college. The internet is a place full of information and tips regarding applications, essays, and long-term prep: some is helpful, but much of it isn't. As someone who has freshly gone through the admissions process, I am passionate about using my experience to help students pursue their dream schools and scholarships. In regards to my teaching style: I make an active effort to integrate my experiences as a tutor alongside those as a student and a mentor into my teachings. Whether searching for a tutor for yourself, your child, or your student, I know how difficult it can be to find someone you can trust is knowledgable and an effective teacher. Thats why I focus not only on helping students improve their proficiency level, but also prioritize fostering a relationship with the material that helps them feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and builds confidence in their ability to learn. In sessions with me, you can expect to focus on mastering the conceptual understanding of material before moving to progressive applications of the concept. Of course, there's so much that goes into learning beyond rigid structures and practice problems. Every student is unique and learns differently, so as we spend sessions together, I tailor study sessions to best assist your progress: keeping what's working, and mixing up what isn't. Whether your goals are improving test scores, working through classroom material, or building successful college applications, I have no doubts our sessions can help move you in the right direction.
