- My love of biology goes back to my youth spent outside, exploring nature, and inside, reading books on dinosaurs.
About Me
My undergraduate (Morehouse College) major was biology; my minor, mathematics. My master's (Yale University) was in biology. My master's and doctorate (University of Florida and Princeton University) was in religious studies. I've taught biology, especially genetics and evolutionary biology, as well as theology, religion, spirituality, and the interaction between science and religion. I've taught as a professor in classroom settings at colleges and universities, as well as in one-on-one tutoring. I can tutor students in biology (biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, physiology, microbiology, botany, zoology, population biology, and ecology); in various mathematical subjects, such as pre-algebra, algebra 1 (e.g., linear equations), geometry, algebra 2 (e.g., quadratic equations), and pre-calculus; and in religion and philosophy. I believe tutoring goes beyond merely helping with homework, or reviewing material from class. Tutoring should help the student become a critical thinker, one who is able to learn independently and think independently. I believe it's important to aid the student in discovering how the subject is relevant to everyday life. As a tutor, my aim is to create new and effective ways of inspiring students to view learning as an exciting adventure.
Hobbies & Interests
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy biking, tennis, astronomy, and learning languages such as Hebrew, Arabic, Greek, and Sanskrit.
