I am a Senior at Worcester Polytechnic Institute studying Mechanical and Robotics Engineering. I am here to help with any Math, Science, Engineering or other tutoring needs. My main approach is to focus on mastery over work pace. I encourage my students to strive for perfection on the basic material, before moving to the hard stuff. That way you won't only "kinda know" two things, but truly understand the material. Outside of class I enjoy, hiking, playing the saxophone, cooking and building robots.

Growing up in China, I have rich experiences in test taking and learning strategies, which led me to Peking University, one of the two top universities in China. I am a mathematics major at Texas A&M with a passion for education. I've been teaching for four years now, and there's never a day that I don't love what I do.

I am an entrepreneurial travel-loving media professional living in New Orleans. I have a Master in Business Administration from Tulane University and I love teaching all sorts of subjects, especially math. In terms of hobbies, you can find me long-distance running, studying data science, exploring new restaurants and traveling the world.

From my experience teaching math to a range of students, from middle school through college, I know that it does not come easily to everyone. However, I firmly believe that everyone has the capability for mathematical reasoning. Everyone has their own strengths and challenges, and my job as a tutor begins with identifying these. I like to have students work through problems while I guide them and make suggestions, so that I can get a sense of what they understand and what they don't. Then we can build on their knowledge and break down the challenging parts of the problem into smaller, more manageable chunks. I hold a bachelor's degree from UChicago and a doctorate from MIT, both in mathematics. I am available to tutor Latin, physics, and all levels of math. Outside of academics, I am an avid tournament chess player, and I enjoy running and cycling.

I am very thorough in the material and diligently work, while being patient, to make sure each student is understanding the lessons because I know everyone has a unique way he/she processes and learns.

I am listening to and learning about him or her as an individual. I can also discover what motivates the student during this conversation and plan for how to frame future tutoring sessions in terms of what the student already knows and enjoys.

I am eager to expand my tutoring horizons! I have helped students succeed in math from Algebra 1 through Calculus, though I would be ready and willing to work on subjects from pre-algebra through Calculus 3 (and a bit beyond). I have also helped students preparing for the SAT, ACT, LSAT, and other standardized tests, and have tutored in chemistry and physics as well. I have worked successfully with dozens of students both in person and online.

I am a very passionate teacher who has worked in public and private school settings at both the high school and college level. I have an undergraduate mathematics degree, and taught AP Calculus at a North Carolina high school. I also have a PhD in philosophy, and have taught at major research universities in Missouri and Ohio. I am personally invested in my students' success, and take pride in being clear, conscientious, and accessible.

I graduated from Dartmouth College with a double major, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in both Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and Music. I continued my education at Columbia University and received Master of Arts in Biology. Starting in middle school and continuing through my graduate career, I have tutored students in a wide variety of subjects, but I was most effective at tutoring math and science because of my lifelong love and aptitude for these subjects. Since I am also working towards a career in molecular biology, I use math and science every day, and I can explain real-world applications and uses for these subjects that may not seem obvious. By demonstrating the use of math and science in everyday life, I am able to help interact with the student and increase their interest in a subject in which they may experience difficulty. I also believe that as a tutor, it is my responsibility to engage with the student to help them achieve and even surpass their goals. In my spare time, I am heavily involved with music in New York City, being part of multiple choirs and continuing to play piano. I also enjoy exercising and exploring the city whenever I have the chance.
