I am a recent graduate of Johns Hopkins University. I double-majored in Economics and Natural Science with a minor in psychology. I discovered my love for teaching during my undergraduate career. While I enjoy teaching a broad range of subjects my favorite subjects to teach are Economics and all STEM-related topics.

I tutor Spanish at all levels. I studied Spanish and Portuguese at Brigham Young University. I have a BA in Spanish with a Portuguese minor. My Spanish evaluation upon graduation was "advanced high." This is one level below native. I do not have an foreign accent in Spanish or Portuguese (Brazilian). I taught at a language learning center working with 19 to 21 year olds. I have also taught Spanish as a long term substitute. I lived in the Dominican Republic for 2 years over two separate occasions. I have over 20 experience speaking Spanish. When teaching, I focus on helping students understand concepts that can be difficult grasp (i.e. subjunctive, pretreat vs. imperfect). The language is much easier to grasp when the student understands the "why" of a concept.I also studied law at Washburn University School of Law. I am a licensed attorney. Teaching Spanish is something that I really enjoy because I understand the process and it is rewarding to help people get over the conceptual humps along the way to fluency.

I am a Chemical Engineering graduate from The University of Texas at Austin. Since graduation in December 2015, I have spent several months preparing for a successfully completing the Fundamentals of Engineering (Chemical) exam, which now allows me to hold my Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. I have also spent the months following graduation finishing my 4 year commitment as a volunteer YoungLife leader, which is a Christian mentorship organization geared towards high school students. I am thankful for these past few years around high school students in the many settings we've had because it has allowed me to connect and relate to them better. I am very passionate about making a difference in peoples lives, especially high school students because after high school is when bigger life decisions are made in which I hope to contribute a positive influence. I believe the subjects that I can best contribute to a student are a broad range of math and science, due to the nature of my degree and interest. I will be especially helpful in Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus subjects. In my free time, I like to be outside, go fishing, hiking, exercise, play Ultimate Frisbee, and take a seasonal snowboarding trip. But sometimes I just need that occasional lazy Saturday of books and movies.
