I am a 24 year old senior at the University of Memphis. I am currently pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems. I have been blessed with great teachers throughout my academic career who have inspired me to share my learning with others.

I am a graduate of Ohio Northern University with majors in Creative Writing and Spanish. I enjoy travel, meeting new people, and helping others. I am bilingual and have worked with speakers of other languages. Through my travels and work experience, I discovered my calling as a teacher.I appreciate the challenge of getting to know each new student and I am flexible in adapting to individual needs.I am also a firm believer that learning can and should be fun. I am a French native from Paris and I moved to Cincinnati to continue my education. I obtained a Master’s Degree in Information and Communication from the University of Sorbonne, Paris. My education was completed with a Master’s degree in French literature at the University of Cincinnati. Generalist in French and francophone literature, my current interests involve teaching French as a second language and French American cross cultural differences. I worked as a French Adjunct in the Greater Cincinnati area for five years. During the past years at the University of Cincinnati, I developed a passion for teaching both language and culture to my students. I am mostly using the communicative method in the classroom and I am able to navigate in different styles of teaching. I also have the experience of teaching courses on-line. I just returned from Paris where I taught French at a vocational school for the past year where I am settling down permanently. In my spare time, I like to enjoy entrainments that Cincinnati has to offer; music events, arts shows, cooking….Alors, à bientôt !

I am a paralegal at an organization that provides a variety of programs that help at-risk youth. I use my extensive background in writing to assist students in writing and editing essays. As a tutor, I assess each student's strengths and weaknesses and each student's particular learning style in order to use effective techniques for learning and retaining material. I have spoken more than one language since I first started to talk. Very young I already knew what I wanted to do as a professional and that was being a language teacher. Quite simply my passion is literature: I hold two degrees in creative writing (a B.F.A. and an M.A.) and write poetry, fiction, critical essays, and creative non-fiction. While completing my masters from 2012-2014, I tutored students at my university's writing center. It was there that I discovered another of my passions: helping students who are eager to learn. My profoundly meaningful experience as a tutor led me to join Varsity after graduation.I believe in the importance of writing correctly, expressively, and effectively. Being able to express oneself precisely is vital for students of all disciplines, and indeed for all people who are involved in the difficult process of navigating human relationships. Achieving this precision, however, easier said than done. As a tutor, I am committed to helping students express themselves with as much creativity and uninhibitedness as possible while also staying true to the constraints of the English language. I believe that I am able to do this by employing the conversational method of pedagogy: asking questions, prodding students to push themselves creatively and intellectually, and attending to the details of their written work. By submitting ourselves to this process, we not only improve the quality of the essay, we improve as writers, thinkers, and communicators.

I am a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. I have worked as a classroom teacher (in Middle School and High School Choir as well as Elementary General Music) and a private lesson instructor of piano and voice. I also have extensive experience a performer on both of these instruments. I served for seven years as Musical Director at Pleasant Lake United Methodist Church where I learned to cultivate an ear for pianistic improvisation as well. My guiding philosophy as an educator is to give students the tools they need to achieve their own academic goals. As a tutor, I help students identify these goals and develop strategies to work towards them. This helps to foster an independence when it comes to academic achievement. This independence is essential for true success. I am available to tutor in the following subjects: Music, Music Theory and AP Music Theory.

I am a current student at Williams College double majoring in chemistry and Arabic studies concentrating in public health on a pre-med track. I speak English and Latvian fluently, and am learning Arabic and French. I tutor a wide range of subjects, but I especially enjoy tutoring in the sciences because I feel that introducing students to the sheer amount of what is possible in the sciences is an amazing opportunity. I feel that an introduction to science should be molded around a student's interests because teaching a student about something that they are already passionate about will always yield the best results. I am currently studying to become an EMT and enjoy being in the outdoors and tinkering.
