I am a Communications Major with a penchant for reading, writing, some math, and film! (I picked up a Cinema Studies Minor as well) I used to be an editor in a few newspapers, so I love working with others to improve their writing skills. I have tutored many areas in both high school and college and have coached softball to girls of many ages. I especially love helping students master their test-taking skills, because I understand what it was like having to navigate such a high pressure environment! Providing just a few tools can make a world of difference.

I am able to determine what obstacles are preventing a student from grasping a concept, and create different means of overcoming those obstacles. Creating a partnership with the student and understanding what he or she needs to overcome is what makes me a great tutor.

I am a huge component of constant feedback. A session may be wasted if feedback is only provided in the last five minutes. For this reason, I would help students stay motivated by maintaining a conversation over the material and relating to other interesting aspects of their life. Hobbies: books, reading, writing, music, art, sports

I am an undergraduate at Rice University, and my favorite subjects to tutor are math and science. I also enjoy doing test prep, and my experience comes from helping fellow students in high school. One of the most important aspects of tutoring is fitting the teaching style to each student. One method that works great for one student may not work well for another. Tutoring is all about coming up with different ways for my students to understand the material. If my student is not interested in the subject we are learning, I will try to find a way to tie in their interests and passions into the subject to better engage them. I want to be there for my students, not only as a tutor, but also as a friend. In addition to my interests in math and science (and learning in general), I enjoy swimming, biking, reading, and cooking. I also believe that fostering curiosity and determination are the keys to success. Hobbies: art, books, reading, cooking, music, swimming, writing

I am a science writer and podcaster with a rigorous academic background who is passionate about sharing my knowledge of chemistry with curious minds. I earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry and Asian art history from UC Berkeley and completed a PhD in inorganic chemistry at MIT. I have five years of experience teaching college-level general and organic chemistry courses at various institutions in California, Massachusetts, New York, and Texas, and hope to expand on my experience as a private tutor. Often a required subject for other classes, chemistry is often considered "the central science" as it's related to biology and physics, and I appreciate that chemical principles can be observed throughout daily life from cooking to medicine to electronics. I believe that education is the world's greatest social equalizer and hope that my students learn to make new connections between classes and other aspects of their life. Outside of science, I love dogs, food, and the outdoors.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students from across Flower Mound's 25 schools with personalized 1-on-1 instruction. Whether your student attends a school in the Lewisville Independent School District or nearby areas, we match them with tutors who understand the local curriculum and Texas academic standards they're working toward.
With an average student-teacher ratio of 13.9:1 in Flower Mound schools, many students benefit from one-on-one attention that classroom settings can't always provide. Personalized tutoring fills that gap by allowing tutors to focus entirely on your student's learning style, pace, and specific challenges—whether that's catching up, staying ahead, or preparing for high-stakes exams like the SAT or AP tests.
Your first session is about getting to know your student and understanding their goals. The tutor will assess where they stand academically, identify specific areas needing support, and discuss what success looks like for them—whether that's improving a grade, mastering a challenging concept, or preparing for a test. This foundation helps create a focused, personalized plan for future sessions.
Flower Mound students seek tutoring across a wide range of subjects, with math and science being particularly common at both middle and high school levels. We also work with many students on standardized test prep (SAT, ACT, AP exams), English/writing skills, and foreign languages. Varsity Tutors connects you with tutors who specialize in whatever your student needs most.
Tutors working with Flower Mound students are familiar with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards and how they're taught in local schools. They tailor instruction to help students master grade-level expectations, prepare for STAAR assessments, and build the foundational skills needed for success in high school and beyond.
Tutoring costs vary based on the subject, tutor expertise, and frequency of sessions you choose. Varsity Tutors works with families to find options that fit their budget and schedule. We recommend discussing your needs and budget when you connect with us so we can match you with the right fit for your situation.
Absolutely. Tutors work with families to find session times that work—whether that's after school, weekends, or during school breaks. With 19,406 students across Flower Mound, we understand that schedules are packed, and flexibility is essential. You control the frequency and timing of sessions.
Results depend on your student's starting point and consistency with tutoring. Some students see improvement within a few weeks, especially with focused test prep or targeted help on specific concepts. Others benefit from longer-term tutoring to build deeper understanding and confidence. Your tutor will help set realistic expectations and track progress along the way.
