Session Summaries by LSAT Tutors

LSAT Tutoring review by Carl in Carmel, IN
Today the student and I focused on Logical Reasoning. He had the results of his practice test to work from, and it allowed us to see several areas for improvement. EXCEPT questions were clearly throwing him off, and he's going to work on maintaining the EXCEPT in his head when he reads the answer choices. The biggest other area was structure family questions, in particular parallel reasoning and flaw questions. We discussed several of these and the best strategies for attacking them. He's going to take a practice exam this weekend to prepare for our next session.

Reviewed the student's actual LSAT Test, Reading Comprehension, and 2 Logical Reasoning sections. We will focus future sessions on the student's weakest area, which is logical reasoning, with tactics to compensate for fatigue resulting in more wrong answers at the end of sections.

LSAT Tutoring review by Seida in Carmel, IN
The student was extremely focused, attentive, and engaged. We reviewed the Logic Games section of her LSAT. We diagrammed each of the first three games in detail, and made templates for each. She found the diagramming tips and methods we discussed easier and more intuitive than the approach she had been using. Homework includes completing the diagramming and templates for the last game of that LSAT, as well as continuing to read through the Logic Games prep book and completing the corresponding drills in the workbook.

The student had worked through most of the Linear Games section of the book and is doing really well. We went over a few questions she had, particularly identifying the sufficient/ necessary elements of conditional statements. We then did some more game practice. By Monday, take the first diagnostic exam (3 hours at a stretch) in the review book. Work through the Games section. If there is extra time, finish the section on Linear Games.

The student and I reviewed a practice LR section she took. Her score has not improved yet, but she is learning from her errors on the test and developing better strategies along the way. We also discussed some logic games strategy and completed a new practice LR section.

The student and I finished Ordering Games! He flew through the last couple games and I continue to be impressed with his ability to make deductions. Next week we'll start with Grouping Games as well as deal with Logical Reasoning.
