I love imparting to them my own passion for the English language and its literary heritage, from Chaucer through our best 21st-century writers. I am particularly absorbed by the history of fiction, drama, and poetry in English, and I hope to continue to teach such love of the written word to curious students today.

I graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I received my MBA (Industrial Management) from the Wharton Graduate Division at U. of Pa. My primary work experience prior to teaching was in business planning and finance (more math). I started teaching because I enjoyed helping students at Baruch College prep for graduate school entrance exams (GMAT, LSAT, GRE). Later on, I aided community college students to break through their difficulties in basic math, algebra, quantitative literacy and statistics/probability (remedial math courses). Many of these students were the first in their families to attend college. I've been teaching math for 25+ years, both in a classroom setting and, more recently, on-line. I prefer to use a whiteboard and other visuals to present the problems and explain the methodology and steps that lead to the solution. If you are my student I would encourage you to first think through the problem and work it through on your own whenever possible, as it helps to foster self-confidence. Then I can step in and assist where I can to guide you to the correct solution. I like to put myself in my student's place in order to understand what hurdle(s) they need to overcome to solve the math question. I can explain approaches to the solution in several ways until it makes sense to you. I am available pretty much during the week or on weekends from late morning until early evenings and can make exceptions when necessary. I would be happy to hold an initial exploratory session at no charge just so we can get to know each other and agree on what we can accomplish together.

As a former IB student, my love for knowledge runs deep. I majored in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, graduating in December 2015 with honors (BME honors and Science and Technology Honors program) and going on to earn a Master's degree in Management Information Systems from the same university in 2019. I am currently pursuing a Master of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from the University of Illinois at Chicago and hope to start a career in data science and analytics. I greatly enjoy helping others learn and tutored throughout high school and college; I love seeing the light flash on in a student's eyes when they finally understand something they had been struggling with or when they easily solve a problem. I have tutored both young children as well as high school and college students, in just about every subject. I particularly enjoy language tutoring; I am fluent in Arabic and French and I love literature and poetry. I also love to tutor math and science subjects. I have been able to lift scores up in both math and reading, helping students gain acceptance into schools like Princeton, Harvard, Lehigh, UPenn, Monmouth, and Rutgers. While the SAT may seem daunting, I can show certain techniques and strategies for overcoming it. But it takes more than just techniques to improve on the SAT. I also help students with the "grunt work" needed to improve their score on the SAT. Additionally, I can help all students looking to take the GRE, another of my specialties

On the formal front, I have my AA in Psychology, my BA in Criminology, and my MS in E-Commerce, and I have an equally diverse post-studies career history. My love of education has taken me to Southern California where I fed my love of law and learned about film. Next, I visited rural Florida with a stint at a Community Theatre. I've even spent a fair amount of time in the Hospitality Industry in Las Vegas, which, unexpectedly, introduced me to the construction industry. Through all of this, I have been a professional tutor for profit and pro bono. I believe education should be available to everyone regardless of age, sex, or socio-economic status, and I utilize learning identification to impart wisdom in the most effective way possible for each student's needs. I love that magical moment when the student "gets it." With experience in a broad range of subjects, mathematics is the most enjoyable for me, as well as LSAT Logic Games I'm the weirdo doing LSAT games at the tea house. My spare time finds me in nature for hikes and trail runs, and I can regularly be found on an obstacle course (Spartan, Tough Mudder, SISU, etc.) or doing an extreme endurance events either racing or supporting friends. Life is to be learned and lived!
