From there, students keep on adding 'bricks' in a consistent way, until reaching the 'roof', their goal. Even though quite a few students believe they know at least 'some' Spanish, or can get by speaking a broken English, if t hey are serious about becoming fluent in a foreign language, their basics must be solid, and there...

Edmonton CLEP Spanish Tutoring FAQ
Among all of the modern foreign languages studied in American high schools, Spanish is perhaps the most immediately useful and enriching language, given its prevalence and utilization in many parts of the United States. After years of study, you have mastered many aspects of Spanish conversation, grammar, and vocabulary. Now that you are preparing for college, why should you repeat the classes that you have completed thus far? Successful completion of the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Spanish exam allows you to earn college credit for introductory-level college Spanish courses, thus enabling you to bypass classes that teach material you have already learned, and make the most of your college studies.
In order to meet with success on the CLEP exam and reap the benefits of the years you have spent studying Spanish, preparation is key. Contact Varsity Tutors today for help connecting with an exceptional tutor to begin personal CLEP Spanish Language tutoring, that can provide you with a test prep plan custom tailored to your particular academic needs. Whether you are planning to continue your Spanish studies or merely would like to bypass some of the foreign language classes required by your undergraduate curriculum, you certainly need to undertake a careful review before sitting for your CLEP exam.
To prepare for both its aural and written sections, you can best be served by having a partner and guide to help you practice and review. Given the practical importance of Spanish as a spoken language in today%u2019s world, it is particularly important for you to sharpen your skills at listening, interpreting, and speaking the language in fluid discourse. A personal tutor can help you assess your conversational skills and help you strengthen any weaknesses you might demonstrate. In addition to the spoken component of the language, you will be required to show your mastery of the grammar and vocabulary that you have attained after years of study.
It can be extremely difficult to prepare for a language test on your own because of the lack of someone to practice your language skills with. Working with a tutor whom you can have a full conversation with will provide you with invaluable practice that can make a huge difference on your exam.
If you are attempting to study on your own, you may be wasting valuable time using study methods that are not effective. There are a lot of methods out there, but there may only be one or a few that fit with your learning style. A private tutor can help you identify what those methods are and help you get the most out of your preparation time.
Given that the CLEP exam evaluates you on years of language study, it will presuppose a complete exposure to the grammar of Spanish as well as the idiomatic constructions that often perplex new students of any foreign tongue. Likewise, the exam will expect you to have mastered a broad array of vocabulary, from general words used in everyday conversation to abstruse, specific terms. CLEP Spanish Language tutoring can help you to review all of this grammar and vocabulary with ease and speed, helping you to focus on just those aspects that need the most attention.
After years of studying Spanish, why not reap the benefits of college credit for your hard work? Do not approach this exam with anything other than complete confidence in your knowledge of the Spanish language. Contact Varsity Tutors today to learn more about the specific CLEP Spanish Language tutoring options in your area, or for help finding the Spanish tutor perfect for helping you review.

We started focusing on timing during this session. We did a timed verbal section, and the student did well. Time probably will not be a huge issue, but either way, it is definitely good to get into the groove of doing entire sections at once and with the pressure of the time. I do still want to do Writing and Math on the clock.
The student warmed up with some reading passages for the assessment, practicing his reading skills under pressure. He performed at 80% accuracy. We then did "sprint workouts:" he had 6 minutes to read the entire passage and answer as many questions as possible (normal reading passages on the assessment get just under 9 minutes a piece.)
We also practiced with the science portion of the assessment. The student was required to explain all graphs and tables to me verbally before being allowed to view the questions. His explanations seemed to help. By the end of the session, the student completed 3 science passages within the time limit at 100% accuracy. We will continue this method of testing next week.
Essay Writing and more essay writing! The student and I went over several outlines he had made for essays and one full essay he had written for the session. We talked about making more detailed outlines for the essays so as to save time and develop time fully. We also discussed adopting a more polished, formal tone when writing the essay.
The student and I spent this session completing an essay worksheet I have developed in order to help her structure her essay responses. We spent about half the session brainstorming and building on examples. I have suggested that she create a bank of standard literary, historical, sports examples from which she can select during the exam. Next session we will work on writing the essay in a timed environment.
We assessed baseline knowledge using a list of assessment test topics. We created flashcards about exponent topics and percentage word problems. Also, we went over more practice problems. The student is making excellent progress.
The student and I had a very productive session today. We first discussed writing the essay. I gave her an example of a basic "outline" that she could follow and ways to improve upon the basic structure to get a higher score. We went through an example prompt and brainstormed compelling support for her point of view, going through the planning process for the essay. For our next session she will write an essay so we can go over specific mechanics she can improve on. We also worked on the other three sections of the test today, focusing less on reading and more on math and writing. The student does extremely well in the writing section, owing to her school's emphasis on grammar rules. We are working on different strategies to maximize her interest and minimize the time she has to spend with each passage to answer the questions. She likes using strategies that focuses on main points instead of (often) insignificant details.
