Ancient and Medieval Heritage Tutoring FAQ
The roots of the contemporary world run deeply through history, far preceding the many scientific advances of the modern world and ultimately reaching into the world of ancient Greece, Mesopotamia, and Egypt. Understanding this long, variegated history is essential to making sense of many facets of our contemporary worldview. While studying such a topic may seem to be merely an academic enterprise, it is actually critically important for developing a learned sense of our place in the long story of history. Whether you are taking a general education course in ancient culture, a specific majors-only course in something like thirteenth-century Aristotelianism and its effects on the university system, or maybe you merely want to improve your knowledge of this important and influential history, a personal tutor can help you sort through all of the complexities of ancient and medieval history, helping you to see the overall narrative of this complex but rewarding area of study. Contact Varsity Tutors today to discuss the tutoring options available in your area.
Courses in the ancient and medieval world often provide a number of difficulties for American students, who often are much better versed in American history than in anything that predates the settlement of our continent. For this reason, the foreign names, ancient events, and unknown geography of ancient and medieval history can be quite difficult for beginning scholars. Ancient and medieval heritage tutoring can help you develop a framework within which you can understand the complexities of this history, with all of its foreign aspects. If you are having trouble writing a term paper for your course, your hand-picked tutor can help you to organize your thoughts and find the right sources to direct your writing. Likewise, if you are merely having trouble retaining the details of your material, a personal tutor is the perfect guide for helping you to navigate the complexities of the many facts that accompany historical studies. If you are doing specific research on the legal codification of Carolingian monasticism, the formation of the University of Paris, the notion of household economy in ancient Greek thought, or any other specific field, your personal tutor is available to help you so that you can press onward into your own work without the frustrations of being detained in the twists and turns of a foreign historical terrain. The ancient and the medieval worlds have so deeply influenced our contemporary world that it is impossible to be a well-informed citizen today without knowing about this influential series of millennia. Recent Ancient and Medieval Heritage Tutoring Session Notes
Today I worked with the student on completing two assignments that she had due this week. I also reviewed and previewed information that the student had learned or will be learning this week. There is a lot of information that is being covered in the student's class, so I worked with her on breaking down the information into more manageable parts. She was able to successfully complete both assignments and gain a good understanding of the material.
Today we focused on the essay portion of the student's upcoming final. One essay option is to compare and contrast two civilizations. She chose Rome and Arabia and she created an outline detailing the similarities and differences between these two empires.
We talked a little more about the student's projects for Latin America Day. Then we studied a lot more for her test tomorrow using her study guide. We went over the terms she needs to know, and reviewed some of the concepts like deforestation and effects of colonization.
The student and I prepared for his quiz this week. We discussed, in our own words, what the vocabulary words mean and how they are related. We also had discussions about each of the section headings and the significance of the topics covered.
The student was studying for an upcoming social studies exam tomorrow. We went over his in class review and also completed other assignments in math, and Spanish. He is such a bright kid.
We worked on: finding definitions from the different chapters and answering homework questions, understanding difficult terms in US and global economy, finishing homework, looking over the outline of the book report.
