I am recent graduate of Sewanee: The University of the South, where I earned a B.A. in English and minors in biology and chemistry. Unsurprisingly, these subjects are where my interests lie, and I also love to help with preparation for standardized tests, especially the critical reading portions of them. I have experience tutoring molecular and cell biology and coordinating a tutoring program for pre-health students at my alma mater. When tutoring, I want to help students do what my past tutors and professors helped me to do: go further than learning discrete facts and instead learn to learn. I want to help you develop your ability to think critically, apply previous knowledge to new material, and break down complex ideas. As a result, you can expect me often to ask the question, "Why?" Overall, my goal is to help you get to the point that you no longer need me! And that's okay, because my unemployment will indicate your success.

I am a Virginia native who has recently relocated to Cincinnati after a year spent abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland. I received my BA in English Literature from Virginia Tech. (GO HOKIES!) I have completed my Master's Degree at the University of Edinburgh. I wrote my dissertation on early modern South Asian and Islamic art. I love to read, write, sketch, and check out museums in my spare time.

I am a graduate of Northern Kentucky University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Education with a minor in Japanese Language and Culture, and I have recently returned to NKU to pursue a Master of Arts in ESL Instruction through their Teacher as Leader program. Since graduation I have begun my career as a teacher at a local charter school where I work as a Title I Reading instructor and ESL instructor with grades K-12. While I tutor in a variety of subjects, I am most passionate about Literature, Writing (including editing and drafting), and Japanese. In my experience working with children of all ages, we do our best to have fun even when studying the tough material by approaching learning through varied activities and methodsI strive to help my students think outside of the box when approaching problems. I believe that education is a necessity for current and future generations and that it leads to immeasurable opportunities that can take them anywhere they wish to go in lifeand this is a belief I strive to pass on to my students. My spare time is spent reading high fantasy literature, sewing and crafting, writing poetry, playing with my two cats, or simply relaxing at home with a good video game or two.

Some of my favorite subjects are philosophy, economics, and physics, but I tend to enjoy learning and teaching most everything, as all subjects are integral to understanding the world. I'm happy to help students in any way they might need, however I specialize in the ACT.

I'm an Economics major at Vassar College who has tutored peers and children for four years, and have learned as much from teaching as those I've taught. In my experience it is easiest for a student to learn when their teacher engages with them directly and adapts their way of teaching to the learning style and interests of the student.
