Hello! My name is Ahila Arulmani and I am currently a freshman Biochemistry major at the University of Texas at Austin. My career goals are to become a surgeon and also conduct neuroscience research. I have been interested in the medical field since I was in 3rd grade, however my favorite subject has always been math. I genuinely enjoy seeing someone solve a problem on their own and gaining that spark that motivates them to continue. I am currently involved in a PreHealth Honor Society called Alpha Epsilon Delta. I am also a member of HOSA (Health Occupations of Students of America. During my free time I go on trips with the Texas State Parks Club. Overall I am a very casual and down to earth type person and I assume I have a pretty approachable personality.

I am a graduate of the University of Michigan-Flint. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Major in Social Science and a Minor in Language Arts. I have a Master Degree in The Art of Teaching that I received from Marygrove College. I also have an Early Childhood Degree. I have taught children for 27 years. My main focus has been first grade. However, I have experience with children in Preschool, Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Grade 6 as well. I firmly believe in the importance of education. It's crucial for a successful path in life. I will work hard to help students become successful learners while developing a lifelong appreciation for education.

I am a graduate of Barry University and New York Chiropractic College. I received my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Master in Anatomy & Physiology Instruction. In addition I received an Associate in Science In Cardiovascular Technologist. I have engaged in tutoring students from K-12 in mathematics and science for the past 15 years. I have also worked with students in undergraduate medical science courses. I have experience tutoring, face to face, hybrid , and online. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Anatomy and Physiology and Chemistry and most undergraduate medical courses. I enjoy helping struggling students, preparing learners for academic studies in the field of mathematics and sciences. I am a firm proponent of education, as a pathway to improved quality of life, and becoming a productive member of society. I enjoy been a role model to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy fishing and activities that enriches my life, like exercising, laughing and maintaining my herbs and spice garden.

I returned to Illinois and have been working as a teacher since 2017 in a bilingual setting. Recently I have just finished my Masters degree at Saint Xavier University. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about the Spanish language. My experience covers a large range of age groups and curriculum, but have the most experience with elementary/middle school subjects. As a teacher, I have learned there is no student left behind and every student can learn. Not everyone learns the same, but they all can learn. As a teacher and tutor, I believe it is very important to get to know who your student(s) are so you can work together towards a common goal. While it is important to learn, having fun while learning is also a large part of my philosophy as my belief is the experience will have a greater impact on my students if they can have fun while learning . I enjoy watching movies, spending time with family, friends, and sports, especially hockey.

When I took the SHSAT, I qualified for the Advanced Science track at Stuyvesant High School. I have also stayed familiar with the SAT and ACT.My test preparation is rooted in knowing the test material, and then performing on test day. Test anxiety is a problem for many students, and with my psychology background students learn to test with confidence.In my spare time, I am a voracious reader and write and perform comedy, including stand up, sketch and improv.
