I love science and math. I also love teaching and tutoring. I have been tutoring since senior year of high school. In my many years as a tutor the most rewarding component of teaching has always been working one-on-one or in small groups with students. I love getting to know my students, being able to interact with them individually, and helping them actively engage with the material. Working individually with students also allows me to design lessons specifically for them, taking into account their strengths, struggles, personalities, and interests.Students learn best by actively engaging with the material not just hearing and seeing, but by thinking, speaking, writing, and (most importantly) practicing. Therefore, I take a very hands-on approach to student learning.

I am a graduate from the California State University of Long Beach with a bachelors in Criminal Justice. For most of my life, I have attended academies for tutoring in order to help me prosper academically throughout my school years. Over the years, I took on multiple tutoring jobs myself in order to pass on the knowledge that I have been previously taught from my mentors onto others. Personally, I enjoy teaching mathematics ranging from basic elementary math up to Algebra 1. It is a subject that I found to be most exciting and interesting during my time in school. I have always found that teaching students has always been a passion of mine. It gives me great pleasure to see the understanding light up in their eyes the moment they understand the process to how they found the solution to a problem. In my spare time, I love being active by hiking around local mountains and playing basketball and talking sports. I believe that the students are the future generation. With that being said, it is imperative that students are educated thoroughly all the while enjoying the process of learning. Please do not shy away to ask me any questions regarding anything that you are curious about. I look forward to working with you all!

I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, a liberal arts college in Connecticut. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Education Studies with a minor in East Asian Studies. I completed my Master of Arts in Psychology conducting research in the Community-engaged Adolescent for Research and Equity (CARE) Lab. At Wesleyan University, I was a teaching assistant for Advanced Korean, Korean Language Partner, and a Korean tutor for the Dean's Peer Tutoring program. While I have tutored a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Korean as I am a Korean-American myself. As Korean culture has been expanding globally, I think it is important to properly learn the culture and the language. In my experience helping students learn Korean to achieve their goals, whether that is to communicate with family, study in Korea, and/or travel to Korea, is always such a fun and rewarding experience. I am willing to adapt to the needs of my tutee/student at their pace and goals to learn.

"There are a million ways to learn how atoms move!" said Mr. Jacobs, my high school chemistry teacher, who first ignited the fire for my love of learning the sciences.I am a recent graduate of the Johns Hopkins University with a major in public health, and on the pre-medical track. Currently, I am working as a clinical researcher in the biggest affiliated hospitals of Harvard medical school.I wasn't always the brightest, an all As- receiving student in class. Trust me, I really wasn't. I've been envious of those who were the smartest in class, but never imagined I could be at the top of my class when I was in middle school. I was averaging Bs mostly, and I never felt the passion to complain to my teachers to receive one additional point in the hopes of receiving a B+. I spent my days watching TV, playing games, and hanging out with my friends. But I've had a moment of change. A BIG CHANGE of my life that brought me to who I am today. With a gentle push from my mother who insisted I take the PSAT for admissions to a competitive high school with an IB program, I reluctantly gave in and took the test. On the day of the results, I couldn't find my name on the list of accepted students, to which my mom was in despair. But she was in joy when she spotted my name on the addendum list of students who were waitlisted to the program in the following weeks. My acceptance to and decision to participate in this IB program at a competitive high school was probably the best decision I made. I met great friends there, who encouraged me to try harder, study harder, and work harder towards my goal for greater achievement. Every time I was discouraged by my grade, I had family, friends, and amazing support from my teachers who encouraged me to try even harder. Until eventually, this became a habit, and my new standard. My motto is "play hard, but work harder." I want you to study hard and work hard, but I also want you to have fun, and enjoy your life. I have experience tutoring students of all age from elementary to college students. In college, I was working as a student academic advisor for lower undergraduate students who were having difficulty adjusting to college and learning intensive materials. I also tutored math, sciences, english, SAT, and TOEFL for students both through academies and private tutoring.

While I was at IMSA, I also served as a hall tutor for girls in my dorm! I helped them with variety of homeworks and helped them better prepare for tests. Some of the subjects that I tutored include Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, and Geometry. In addition to these subjects, I am also confident with Algebra and College Chemistry! Last year, I also worked with high school juniors to help them with college application process and improving on their ACT scores.
