I am a fourth year medical student currently studying in Houston. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Neurobiology from UT Austin. I have extensive experience in teaching throughout my undergraduate and postgraduate career. During undergrad and medical school, I served as a peer educator teaching biology and anatomy and physiology. After undergrad, I spent one year working as a teaching assistant at a high school, assisting at-risk, ELL, and special needs students with the understanding of Biology. It was one of my most gratifying experiences thus far, as I witnessed my students' progress and how their passion for science and confidence in their own abilities develop hand in hand. I also tutored students one-on-one in preparation for the Biology STAAR retake tests. I feel that recognizing an individual's learning style and adapting my methods of teaching is the key to getting the information across. I understand subjects best when I am truly interested and passionate about it. So, I try to teach my students with that same passion in hopes that I might ignite them not only to absorb the material we are currently studying but to become proactive and go above and beyond the texts. If you haven't guessed already by my choice of major and experience, I LOVE Biology! In addition, I tutor in a wide variety of subjects, including SAT Math, Algebra I & 2, Pre Calc, Physics, Chemistry, and advanced college level sciences. I am also a fervent linguist. I wish to learn as many languages as I can in my lifetime. So far, I am fluent in English and Hindi, hold a strong command of Latin 1 and 2, and an advanced level of fluency in Korean 1 and 2. Outside of academia, I thoroughly enjoy cycling, camping, hiking, and amateur photography. It would be my utmost pleasure to be your tutor and I will work with you to determine what is most suitable for your learning.

I was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea until I moved to the U.S. at the age of 19 to attend the State University of New York at Buffalo (University at Buffalo). I received my Bachelor of Arts in Media Study with a focus on Film & TV Production. Before graduating, I started my own film production company, where I've created music videos for various artists and commercials for such brands as Nike and Lotus Cars. I have also taught English in South Korea for two years. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Korean, and Filmmaking. I truly believe learning a language should be approached with the right amount of academia and the hands-on experience; I will provide a practical environment where students can learn the Korean culture, history, and expressions that they can't learn from the books. As I am extremely knowledgable in Entertainment industry both in America and South Korea, the entire class could be taught in Korean with such topics as K-CULTURE, K-POP, K-Drama, and K-Beauty. In my spare time, I enjoy working out, watching movies, and playing board games.

I’m a proud alumna of Macalester College where I graduated with a degree in English and a prospective student of Princeton Theological Seminary where I hope to pursue graduate degrees in Divinity and Youth Ministry. I have extensive experience tutoring and teaching English in a variety of settings: college classrooms, private homes, churches, SAT schools, and even abroad in places like Cuba and China. I am most comfortable teaching the SAT Reading/Writing and helping youths with their personal statements. Furthermore, my one-year experience as an AmeriCorps VISTA for PeaceJam Foundation – an award-winning organization that promotes service learning and peacekeeping through the combined efforts of Nobel Peace Laureates and young people – has instilled in me a deep reverence and hope for our youths today. I strongly believe in our youths’ limitless potential to pursue their dreams and become agents of positive social change and know I will be an excellent mentor/coach through their journey.

I am a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, GA, where I received my Bachelor of Sciences in Anthropology and Human Biology with a minor in Predictive Health. After I graduated, I worked as a laboratory assistant at a cardiology lab at Emory University School of Medicine. While I am interested in chemistry, math among others in STEM, I am very passionate about biotechnology and general biology including genetics, physiology, and cell biology. As an aspiring dentist, I am currently working towards getting a dental degree. During my undergraduate career, I had several experiences of helping other students with learning materials and quiz/exam preparation. I am excited to have another opportunity to help other students again through Varsity Tutors because I truly believe that education is absolutely imperative to a better quality of life and that everyone is fully capable of learning and making potentials to reality. As for tutoring, I put much emphasis on active participation and positive reinforcement. A learning environment should stay interactive, fun, but challenging. By encountering challenges, I believe a student's potential could rise. Besides my life in academia, I enjoy traveling, photography, and physical activities including hiking, running, and skiing during winter.

I learned how to speak, write, and read Korean ever since I was a little kid and have been practicing Korean for over 20+ years. My parents understood the importance of developing a bilingual skillset since adolescence and I have been using Korean both conversationally and professionally. I enjoy teaching people since it helps them learn a new skillset and it makes me proud of their hard earned accomplishments. I currently serve in the U.S. Navy and have qualified and proven Korean proficiency by passing the Department of Defense Language Proficiency Test. Learning a new language can be difficult, but I believe I have the patience and understanding to help anyone of all ages to learn Korean.

I am a senior at the University of Michigan majoring in Biology and on the predental track. I have been teaching middle school and high school students for four years in the suburbs of Illinois, and I was a volunteer English peer tutor in my high school. I tutored Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, SAT, English, Biology, Spanish, and a wide variety of school subjects. I enjoy teaching all types of Math, English, and SAT the most. I also love editing and reading essays. As a kid, I loved writing. It was my way of putting my most genuine self out to the world, and I want to be able to help others do the same. Furthermore, I would love to help students struggling in STEM classes. Many students struggling in STEM classes especially feel that they are not "smart" enough, but the simple fact is that no one is perfect. Everyone has room for improvement, and a little help from someone else can be all it takes. Since I went through high school and a year in college, I love being able to lend a helping hand to younger students struggling with classes or standardized testing. I believe everyone can succeed, and I want to help students reach their potential.
