I am a certified family nurse practitioner who started out as an attendant and worked my way up through the field. I understand that where you start does not determine where you will finish. It takes a wise and strong individual to ask for help. The greatest mishandling of such requests is to view this as an inadequacy and fail to recognize the ability to be of service to others.

Medicine Tutoring FAQ
Whether you are a second-year medical student or an incoming college freshman who intends to complete a pre-medical concentration, Varsity Tutors can help you connect with one-on-one medical tutoring to assist you in your academic endeavors. Individualized medical tutoring can serve as a strong support system for your learning needs. From final exams in core courses like anatomy and organic chemistry to important tests like the MCAT and the USMLE, your tutor can be your guide, and can offer strategies for effective note-taking and time management as well. Medicine is a challenging, complex field that requires students to commit a great deal of information to memory and stretch their problem-solving skills. Pre-medical and medical school classes build upon knowledge introduced in the prior weeks, months, and semesters. It can become increasingly difficult to progress through your curriculum smoothly if even one aspect of biochemistry or physiology gives you pause.
Reviewing your notes and textbooks is an excellent first step, but if you find such a technique insufficient, never fear. Medical tutoring is always one-on-one, with individualized lessons that factor in your personal goals, learning style, personality, strengths, and weaknesses. Perhaps neuroscience is clearest to you when its concepts are visually depicted. Perhaps you are an auditory learner who prefers to rely on mnemonics and intricate discussion of the brain's physical structure. Even on an advanced level, people learn in different ways. Varsity Tutors can not only connect you with a medical tutor who is skilled in the area you need help in, but the tutor will be matched to you based on your own unique learning style and even your personality.
You may need to further develop your insights into cell biology, or be struggling with the intricacies and complexities of biochemistry. Advanced genetics, immunology, and neuroscience topics can be stumbling points in your academics, but have no fear -- your tutor will go over any subject in as much detail as you need to get back on track. From embryology to physiology, there are many tough subjects you encounter in medical school. It wasn't meant to be easy! Just because you are hitting a block in one area doesn't mean you won't find success. Many accomplished students have taken advantage of the help medical tutoring provides to give them the boost they need.
If you are uncertain about your learning style or feel you could benefit from a new study regimen, these tutors are accomplished in identifying a student's most productive study habits. Often, the strongest students are those who recognize the value of outside help -- not those who toil alone. Of course, between labs, lectures, research, and volunteer hours, you are almost too busy to sleep, let alone to accommodate another demand upon your time! For this reason, medical tutors can come to you and schedule sessions to fit into your schedule. An experienced tutor knows you have classes, work, and other obligations and activities. They can meet with you during the evening or weekend to accommodate your busy life, and if your schedule frequently changes, your tutor can meet at different times each week.
Our educational directors will help you select the independent medical tutor who is best suited to teaching you. These tutors are professionals who have been through the same courses you're taking, and may have experienced stumbling points themselves. They can schedule your sessions for whenever you choose, wherever you choose -- in your home, at a cafe, or library, or even face-to-face online through our live learning platform! Do not face the difficulties of a medical education alone. Instead, invest in knowledgeable guidance from someone with experience and success. Call us today!

Recent Medicine Tutoring Session Notes
The student and I went through and completed her Individual Exam to be submitted today. We reviewed concepts and spoke through each question to ensure complete understanding of the material and working through problems.
We will be in touch over email this weekend to help with a group assignment, and next week start taking chapter checkpoints.
Today we covered third variable effects (confounding/effect modification) and random effects. The student was not familiar with the material before we met, but feels more knowledgeable now. She will finish her homework and we will go over the material on Sunday.
Reviewed type 1 hypersensitivities. Went over type II, III and IV hypersensitivities and started on autoimmune diseases part I lecture. Drilled her on concepts as we moved through categories. She was very responsive, and is becoming better at categorizing the information for better memory recall. As before, I recommended she immediately go over the lecture we went over today after we were done, to solidify recall. Recommended making a one-page typed chart that compares all 4 hypersensitivity reactions on one page, for quick review. No concerns today.
We talked about the structure and function of the nervous system, focusing mainly on the types of cells and their subsequent role in the conduction of a nerve impulse. I believe the session was very fruitful, and the student understood the major concepts involved in nerve impulse and the role of various substances in the same. We planned to include a proper game plan from here on and stick to it for future sessions. He seemed amenable to the idea.
The student and I are using this session and tomorrow's session to review for her midterm exam on Wednesday. She is doing very well on units 1 through 3. We will review unit 4 tomorrow. I do think she will do well on it.
During this session, I reviewed a data matrix for the student which consisted of reviewing 10 scientific articles related to medication errors in the field of nursing. I read four of the ten articles and made relevant changes and corrections to the matrix in specific areas like sample size reporting, measured outcome variables, and pertinent results from data.
