I am a certified ESL teacher as well as teaching History at the local community college. Being an ESL teacher gives me the opportunity to bridge language and cultures, which is something I am passionate about. History is the perfect subject to encourage students to think critically and independently. History, whether it is personal/family or state or national or world, provides an identity and moral understanding. I find it exciting when students move beyond parroting what I say or what the readings say to draw their conclusions and back up their statements with facts. By examining the past, students learn so much more about the present, as well as develop the abilities to use logic, problem-solve, assess evidence and conflicting interpretations, and understand past examples of change. These abilities transition into working life skills as well as develop responsible public behavior no matter if they are a national or community leader, an informed voter, or an observer.

I am happy to assist with a wide variety of subjects from ACT prep to general homework assistance for any age student. My experiences with children outside the classroom as a swim coach and assistant scoutmaster has reinforced my belief that teaching requires positivity, patience, and enthusiasm to achieve success.

I am a graduate of Indiana University where I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Mathematics minor. Currently, I am pursuing a Master's degree in Human Genetics in hopes of soon becoming a Genetic Counselor. Previously, I have held positions as a Mathematics tutor and Biology Undergraduate Teaching Assistant while at Indiana University. I personally love tutoring and helping students succeed in the way previous role models, professors, and students have helped me in the past. I believe each student learns differently, and it's incredibly important to determine how each particular student learns and what strategies work well for each individual in order to allow them to succeed. I also thoroughly enjoy helping students find a passion and enjoyment for STEM fields as I have. In my free time, I love traveling, acting in community theatre productions, and crafting. On campus, I am involved with Microsoft Excel peer tutoring, the Sales and Financial Services Clubs, and the university's Hutton Honors College. I am originally from Vernon Hills, Illinois, where I have additional past tutoring experience at Mathnasium and Kumon.

I am a student at DePauw University. I am a Chemistry and Global Health double major. I speak fluent Spanish and English and am an Arabic student. I hope to go to medical school someday and work in the field of epidemiology.

I've taught ACT/SAT prep for about 4 years to students at all ends of the academic spectrum: from those working with learning disabilities/accommodations & struggling with timing to those trying to achieve perfect scores. Although I always create individualized plans, I focus on teaching every student the most effective, step-by-step way to approach each question on each section of the test. Beyond test prep, I've taught/tutored just about every academic subject through the undergraduate level. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading about history, going to church, coaching sports (track & tennis), and spending time with my family. I am currently a student at Dartmouth College studying Biology, with a concentration on Human Biology. I tutor many subjects, but specialize in standardized test prep and in science, particularly Biology at all levels. I am most passionate about science, it is my favorite subject because it always has a definite answer but it might not be what you expect. At Dartmouth, I am a member of the marching band, Emergency Medical Services, and the sustainability program.

I am a junior at Purdue University studying Aerospace Engineering and am part of the Air Force ROTC program. I have 6 years of tutoring experience at places including Kumon, Mathnasium, and Purdue University. I have worked with kids of all ages from kindergarten to sophomores in college, each with their own set of unique strengths, and tutored a variety of subjects, including calculus, trigonometry, geometry, thermodynamics, chemistry, and physics. Like many of my previous students, I struggled to understand concepts that I was being taught and was a terrible test taker. However, I found ways to overcome my obstacles and develop an better intuition for what I was learning. I believe that it is only this intuition and understanding that helps overcome these obstacles. My least favorite thing to see people be discouraged, so with a little bit of guidance and reassurance, I want to show people that they are capable of anything they put their mind to.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame, IN, where I earned my doctoral degree in contemporary American poetry. Before that I earned my masters in English at Wake Forest University, NC. I am passionate about poetry, writing, and the English language, and dedicated to helping others understand and achieve competence in the writing process. I have taught college-level composition courses, as well as a poetry course, and have tutored at Wake Forest University's writing center for two years, and therefore have experience in coaching students at different skill levels through many stages of the writing process, including formulating arguments, brainstorming ideas, handling grammatical issues, finding sources for research, and revising essays. I continue to enjoy meeting students where they are and walking with them through the learning process. We are all students of language; I find a deep satisfaction in enabling others to become great students.
