I am currently a freshman at the University of Notre Dame pursuing a degree in finance. I went to Marquette University High School in Milwaukee, WI where I served as a student tutor for two years. I especially love tutoring students in math and English and look forward to working with you!

I'm a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Science-Computing--the University's equivalent of the pre-med major, but with additional credits reserved for a few Computer Science electives. While there, tutoring was one of the main activities I was involved in, and I found it deeply fulfilling when I'd see a certain idea suddenly click for my tutees.
I am a student at Duke University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with Chemistry and German minors. On campus I am involved in the Bilbo lab, which focuses on neuroimmune interactions in abnormal brain development. I am very passionate about helping others enjoy and learn about various fields in STEM.
I am an undergraduate biochemistry major at the University of Notre Dame. Previously, I was employed at Mathnasium of Granger for two years, where I was a math instructor for all ages and math-related subjects.
I am a high school history teacher who has also worked as a teaching assistant at one of the country's top 10 colleges. I've taught ACT/SAT prep for about 4 years to students at all ends of the academic spectrum: from those working with learning disabilities/accommodations & struggling with timing to those trying to achieve perfect scores. Although I always create individualized plans, I focus on teaching every student the most effective, step-by-step way to approach each question on each section of the test. Beyond test prep, I've taught/tutored just about every academic subject through the undergraduate level. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading about history, going to church, coaching sports (track & tennis), and spending time with my family. I really enjoy getting to know each student I teach as we work toward our goals.
I am currently a student at Dartmouth College studying Biology, with a concentration on Human Biology. I tutor many subjects, but specialize in standardized test prep and in science, particularly Biology at all levels. I am most passionate about science, it is my favorite subject because it always has a definite answer but it might not be what you expect. At Dartmouth, I am a member of the marching band, Emergency Medical Services, and the sustainability program.
I am a certified ESL teacher as well as teaching History at the local community college. Being an ESL teacher gives me the opportunity to bridge language and cultures, which is something I am passionate about. History is the perfect subject to encourage students to think critically and independently. History, whether it is personal/family or state or national or world, provides an identity and moral understanding. I find it exciting when students move beyond parroting what I say or what the readings say to draw their conclusions and back up their statements with facts. By examining the past, students learn so much more about the present, as well as develop the abilities to use logic, problem-solve, assess evidence and conflicting interpretations, and understand past examples of change. These abilities transition into working life skills as well as develop responsible public behavior no matter if they are a national or community leader, an informed voter, or an observer.
I enjoy helping students learn more about math. It is a great feeling to see the "light bulb" turn on. I have been a math teacher and tutor for over 10 years, which includes teaching secondary, collegiate, and graduate courses. I earned a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame. I also have an M.B.A. in quantitative business analysis from Indiana University and earned my secondary mathematics teaching license/certification at Indiana Wesleyan University.
I'm Alexandra but you can call me Ally; I am a freshmen engineering major at the University of Notre Dame so I'm a huge math and science nerd.
I am currently a Junior at Washington University in St. Louis, studying computer science and math. I hope to one day be a software engineer. I love working with other people and want to help others succeed in my areas of expertise.
I am currently a fourth year medical student in Indianapolis. I completed my undergraduate education at Indiana University Bloomington, where I majored in Biology and Spanish. I also completed two minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. While at IU, I worked for the Department of Mathematics and Department of Spanish. I also worked as a Peer Tutor for the IU Athletics Department, tutoring in several subjects including statistics, chemistry, physics, and Spanish. I graduated from college with a 4.0, and I entered medical school shortly thereafter. Since coming to medical school, I have excelled in all of my pre-clinical coursework, and I currently rank in the Top 20% of my class. I feel very comfortable and confident tutoring other students in a variety of subjects from math and science to Spanish. I like to think that the same techniques I have used to excel in all phases of my education can be easily adapted to other students and help you achieve your academic goals, just as I have!

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students from across Kokomo's 27 schools and all four school districts with personalized tutoring. Whether your student attends a school in Kokomo Community Schools, Kokomo-Center Township Consolidated School Corporation, or any other local district, we can match them with a tutor who understands Indiana's curriculum standards and can support their specific academic goals.
Personalized 1-on-1 instruction allows tutors to focus directly on the Indiana standards your student needs to master, whether in math, English language arts, science, or social studies. Rather than keeping pace with a classroom of 15+ students, your student gets targeted support on the exact concepts they're struggling with, which research shows significantly accelerates learning and confidence.
Kokomo students frequently seek help with algebra and geometry, standardized test preparation (including ISTEP+ and other state assessments), and English writing skills. We also work with many students on foundational reading and math skills, AP and honors course support, and college entrance exam prep for the SAT and ACT.
In the first session, your tutor will assess your student's current understanding, learning style, and specific challenges in the subject. They'll ask questions about what's been difficult, review recent classwork or test results, and create a personalized plan focused on your student's goals—whether that's improving a grade, preparing for a test, or building confidence in a tough subject.
The ideal frequency depends on your student's needs and goals. Some students benefit from weekly sessions to build steady progress, while others prefer bi-weekly tutoring or intensive support before a major test or assignment. Your tutor will recommend a schedule based on your student's current performance and what you're trying to achieve, and you can adjust as needed.
Varsity Tutors connects students with tutors who have strong expertise in their subject areas and proven experience helping students succeed. Many tutors have teaching backgrounds, subject matter expertise, and experience with Indiana curriculum standards. Each tutor is selected based on their ability to work effectively with your student's specific needs and learning style.
We work with families on flexible tutoring plans to fit different budgets and needs. Whether you're looking for intensive support or occasional help with a challenging unit, we can discuss options that work for your situation. Many students show noticeable improvement in confidence and understanding within 3-4 sessions, though the timeline varies based on the subject, how far behind a student is, and how frequently they meet with their tutor. Consistent, personalized instruction compounds over time—students who work regularly with a tutor typically see meaningful grade improvement and test score gains within 6-8 weeks.
