I am a bilingual first-year med student at the Indiana University School of Medicine and a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Pre-Health and am a certified Spanish-English medical interpreter. I am most passionate about helping individuals improve their Spanish, science and math skills! I have experience tutoring high school and middle school students in Spanish and math, but I am interested in tutoring individuals of all ages.

I am currently a freshman at the University of Notre Dame pursuing a degree in finance. I went to Marquette University High School in Milwaukee, WI where I served as a student tutor for two years. I especially love tutoring students in math and English and look forward to working with you!
I am a student at Duke University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with Chemistry and German minors. On campus I am involved in the Bilbo lab, which focuses on neuroimmune interactions in abnormal brain development. I am very passionate about helping others enjoy and learn about various fields in STEM.
I'm a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Science-Computing--the University's equivalent of the pre-med major, but with additional credits reserved for a few Computer Science electives. While there, tutoring was one of the main activities I was involved in, and I found it deeply fulfilling when I'd see a certain idea suddenly click for my tutees.
I am an undergraduate biochemistry major at the University of Notre Dame. Previously, I was employed at Mathnasium of Granger for two years, where I was a math instructor for all ages and math-related subjects.
I am currently a student at Dartmouth College studying Biology, with a concentration on Human Biology. I tutor many subjects, but specialize in standardized test prep and in science, particularly Biology at all levels. I am most passionate about science, it is my favorite subject because it always has a definite answer but it might not be what you expect. At Dartmouth, I am a member of the marching band, Emergency Medical Services, and the sustainability program.
I am a high school history teacher who has also worked as a teaching assistant at one of the country's top 10 colleges. I've taught ACT/SAT prep for about 4 years to students at all ends of the academic spectrum: from those working with learning disabilities/accommodations & struggling with timing to those trying to achieve perfect scores. Although I always create individualized plans, I focus on teaching every student the most effective, step-by-step way to approach each question on each section of the test. Beyond test prep, I've taught/tutored just about every academic subject through the undergraduate level. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading about history, going to church, coaching sports (track & tennis), and spending time with my family. I really enjoy getting to know each student I teach as we work toward our goals.
I am a certified ESL teacher as well as teaching History at the local community college. Being an ESL teacher gives me the opportunity to bridge language and cultures, which is something I am passionate about. History is the perfect subject to encourage students to think critically and independently. History, whether it is personal/family or state or national or world, provides an identity and moral understanding. I find it exciting when students move beyond parroting what I say or what the readings say to draw their conclusions and back up their statements with facts. By examining the past, students learn so much more about the present, as well as develop the abilities to use logic, problem-solve, assess evidence and conflicting interpretations, and understand past examples of change. These abilities transition into working life skills as well as develop responsible public behavior no matter if they are a national or community leader, an informed voter, or an observer.
I'm Alexandra but you can call me Ally; I am a freshmen engineering major at the University of Notre Dame so I'm a huge math and science nerd.
I enjoy helping students learn more about math. It is a great feeling to see the "light bulb" turn on. I have been a math teacher and tutor for over 10 years, which includes teaching secondary, collegiate, and graduate courses. I earned a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame. I also have an M.B.A. in quantitative business analysis from Indiana University and earned my secondary mathematics teaching license/certification at Indiana Wesleyan University.
I am currently a fourth year medical student in Indianapolis. I completed my undergraduate education at Indiana University Bloomington, where I majored in Biology and Spanish. I also completed two minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. While at IU, I worked for the Department of Mathematics and Department of Spanish. I also worked as a Peer Tutor for the IU Athletics Department, tutoring in several subjects including statistics, chemistry, physics, and Spanish. I graduated from college with a 4.0, and I entered medical school shortly thereafter. Since coming to medical school, I have excelled in all of my pre-clinical coursework, and I currently rank in the Top 20% of my class. I feel very comfortable and confident tutoring other students in a variety of subjects from math and science to Spanish. I like to think that the same techniques I have used to excel in all phases of my education can be easily adapted to other students and help you achieve your academic goals, just as I have!

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students from across Mishawaka's three school districts with personalized tutoring support. Whether your student attends a school in Mishawaka Community Schools, Penn-Harris-Madison, or another local district, we can match them with tutors who understand Indiana's academic standards and can support their specific curriculum needs.
Personalized 1-on-1 instruction focuses on the exact skills and concepts your student needs to master Indiana's standards in math, English language arts, science, and social studies. Tutors can target gaps in understanding, reinforce classroom learning, and help students build the foundation needed for state assessments and grade-level progression.
While Mishawaka's teachers are dedicated professionals, a 17.8:1 student-teacher ratio means individual attention can be limited in the classroom. Personalized tutoring provides one-on-one instruction tailored to your student's learning style, pace, and specific challenges—something that's difficult to achieve in a larger classroom setting. This targeted approach helps students catch up, stay ahead, or build confidence in subjects where they struggle.
The first session is focused on getting to know your student and understanding their academic goals, strengths, and challenges. The tutor will assess where your student stands, discuss what they're working on in their Mishawaka school, and create a personalized plan for how tutoring can best support their learning. This foundation helps ensure every future session is as effective as possible.
Students in Mishawaka frequently seek support in math (from elementary arithmetic through algebra and geometry), English language arts (reading comprehension, writing, and test prep), and science. We also work with students preparing for standardized tests, developing study skills, and tackling challenging high school courses. Whatever subject your student needs help with, we can connect them with a tutor who specializes in that area.
When you connect with Varsity Tutors, we learn about your student's school, grade level, current courses, and learning needs. We then match them with a tutor who has expertise in those specific subjects and understands how Indiana schools structure their curriculum. This personalized matching ensures your tutor can support your student's actual classroom experience.
Yes, tutoring sessions can be scheduled around your student's school day, extracurriculars, and family commitments. Whether your student needs help after school, on weekends, or during the week, we work with you to find times that work best. Flexible scheduling makes it easier for students to get the support they need without adding stress to their routine.
Many students begin to feel more confident and show academic progress within the first few weeks of consistent tutoring. However, the timeline depends on your student's starting point, the subject, and how frequently they meet with their tutor. Regular sessions combined with practice between meetings help reinforce learning and build stronger foundations over time.
