I am currently a freshman at the University of Notre Dame pursuing a degree in finance. I went to Marquette University High School in Milwaukee, WI where I served as a student tutor for two years. I especially love tutoring students in math and English and look forward to working with you!

I'm a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Science-Computing--the University's equivalent of the pre-med major, but with additional credits reserved for a few Computer Science electives. While there, tutoring was one of the main activities I was involved in, and I found it deeply fulfilling when I'd see a certain idea suddenly click for my tutees.
I am a student at Duke University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with Chemistry and German minors. On campus I am involved in the Bilbo lab, which focuses on neuroimmune interactions in abnormal brain development. I am very passionate about helping others enjoy and learn about various fields in STEM.
I am an undergraduate biochemistry major at the University of Notre Dame. Previously, I was employed at Mathnasium of Granger for two years, where I was a math instructor for all ages and math-related subjects.
I am a high school history teacher who has also worked as a teaching assistant at one of the country's top 10 colleges. I've taught ACT/SAT prep for about 4 years to students at all ends of the academic spectrum: from those working with learning disabilities/accommodations & struggling with timing to those trying to achieve perfect scores. Although I always create individualized plans, I focus on teaching every student the most effective, step-by-step way to approach each question on each section of the test. Beyond test prep, I've taught/tutored just about every academic subject through the undergraduate level. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading about history, going to church, coaching sports (track & tennis), and spending time with my family. I really enjoy getting to know each student I teach as we work toward our goals.
I am currently a student at Dartmouth College studying Biology, with a concentration on Human Biology. I tutor many subjects, but specialize in standardized test prep and in science, particularly Biology at all levels. I am most passionate about science, it is my favorite subject because it always has a definite answer but it might not be what you expect. At Dartmouth, I am a member of the marching band, Emergency Medical Services, and the sustainability program.
I am a certified ESL teacher as well as teaching History at the local community college. Being an ESL teacher gives me the opportunity to bridge language and cultures, which is something I am passionate about. History is the perfect subject to encourage students to think critically and independently. History, whether it is personal/family or state or national or world, provides an identity and moral understanding. I find it exciting when students move beyond parroting what I say or what the readings say to draw their conclusions and back up their statements with facts. By examining the past, students learn so much more about the present, as well as develop the abilities to use logic, problem-solve, assess evidence and conflicting interpretations, and understand past examples of change. These abilities transition into working life skills as well as develop responsible public behavior no matter if they are a national or community leader, an informed voter, or an observer.
I enjoy helping students learn more about math. It is a great feeling to see the "light bulb" turn on. I have been a math teacher and tutor for over 10 years, which includes teaching secondary, collegiate, and graduate courses. I earned a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame. I also have an M.B.A. in quantitative business analysis from Indiana University and earned my secondary mathematics teaching license/certification at Indiana Wesleyan University.
I'm Alexandra but you can call me Ally; I am a freshmen engineering major at the University of Notre Dame so I'm a huge math and science nerd.
I am currently a Junior at Washington University in St. Louis, studying computer science and math. I hope to one day be a software engineer. I love working with other people and want to help others succeed in my areas of expertise.
I am currently a fourth year medical student in Indianapolis. I completed my undergraduate education at Indiana University Bloomington, where I majored in Biology and Spanish. I also completed two minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. While at IU, I worked for the Department of Mathematics and Department of Spanish. I also worked as a Peer Tutor for the IU Athletics Department, tutoring in several subjects including statistics, chemistry, physics, and Spanish. I graduated from college with a 4.0, and I entered medical school shortly thereafter. Since coming to medical school, I have excelled in all of my pre-clinical coursework, and I currently rank in the Top 20% of my class. I feel very comfortable and confident tutoring other students in a variety of subjects from math and science to Spanish. I like to think that the same techniques I have used to excel in all phases of my education can be easily adapted to other students and help you achieve your academic goals, just as I have!

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students from across Lafayette's 35 schools and all four school districts with personalized 1-on-1 instruction. Whether your student attends a school in the Lafayette School Corporation, West Lafayette Community School Corporation, or another local district, we match them with tutors who understand Indiana's academic standards and can support their specific curriculum and learning goals.
Lafayette students most commonly seek help in math, English/language arts, and science—subjects that form the foundation for Indiana state assessments and college readiness. We also work with students on test prep for ISTEP+, ACT, and SAT, as well as AP and honors courses. Tutors can also support students in foreign languages, social studies, and other subjects based on individual needs.
Personalized 1-on-1 instruction is proven to accelerate learning—research shows it can improve outcomes significantly compared to classroom instruction alone. Tutors working with Lafayette students are familiar with Indiana's academic standards and can target gaps in understanding, build skills aligned with state benchmarks, and help students progress at their own pace. This is especially valuable for students preparing for Indiana state assessments or working toward grade-level proficiency.
The first session is focused on getting to know your student—their learning style, current strengths, challenges, and goals. The tutor will assess where your student stands academically, discuss what they're working on in their Lafayette school, and create a personalized plan for how tutoring can best support their progress. This foundation helps ensure every session after that is targeted and effective.
While Lafayette schools maintain an average student-teacher ratio of 15.5:1, personalized 1-on-1 tutoring provides undivided attention tailored to your student's specific needs. A tutor can slow down on difficult concepts, move faster through material your student already understands, and adjust their teaching style to match how your student learns best. This customization is something that's difficult to achieve in a traditional classroom setting, even with dedicated teachers.
Getting started is simple: you tell us about your student's needs, we match them with an experienced tutor, and you begin personalized sessions on a schedule that works for your family. Pricing varies based on the subject, tutor expertise, and frequency of sessions. We recommend reaching out for a personalized quote based on what your Lafayette student needs—whether that's weekly support, test prep, or intensive help with a specific subject.
Varsity Tutors connects students with experienced tutors who have strong backgrounds in their subject areas. Many hold degrees in their fields, have teaching experience, or bring professional expertise relevant to what they tutor. All tutors are vetted to ensure they can provide high-quality instruction and work effectively with students in Lafayette and beyond.
