The student said he had a quiz in English tomorrow about writing an essay. I helped him as much as I could. Then we worked on math where he has a quiz also. I gave him 6 practice problems and he could do them all and got them correct. He then finished his next science homework which he completed with no trouble. He told me that he got a 30 or 40 on his unit test from last week. I told him that he did great and he was pleased.

Tutoring review by Antonia in Borden, KY
Tonight the student worked on writing expressions from word problems and he also practiced setting up equations from word problems and solving for unknowns. He was able to accurately set up the expressions with 80% accuracy when he drew a depiction of the problem or was able to visualize the expectation. He felt pretty confident that with continued practice that he would be able to improve his accuracy to greater than 80%. I left him with pdf copies of additional problems.

We reviewed quadratic functions and made sure that the student could solve multi-stepped problems on his own. I also prepared a list of test taking strategies and tips to help him with his make-up exam tomorrow. I asked him to inform me of his grade from his make-up exam so I know the areas he still needs improvement in.
