I am a teacher librarian, and am passionate about teaching reading and literacy. I have worked with children as young as 3, all the way up to teenagers. I believe that books play a powerful role in supporting progressive education. Progressive Education is built on the tenet that we must prepare children to be capable participants in a diverse society. All children deserve to see themselves in the books they read. I believe fostering a love of reading, seeing students as partners in their education, and being flexible and resilient are essential pieces in helping to cultivate the promise and potential of every student. I received my undergraduate and graduate education at Indiana University Bloomington. I have spent 15 years working in nonprofits, ranging from performing arts to higher education, and more than half of that time has been in public and school libraries.

Hi! My name is Jill and I am currently in my last years of the PhD in Spanish literature. I have been teaching Spanish for 7 years at the university level (from elementary grammar to literature and culture courses) and love sharing information about the language and cultures of the countries where it is spoken! I have worked hard to incorporate games, simulations, and real-life activities into my classes and hope to do the same for you.I took Spanish and French courses in high school, but really only became interested in Spanish after being an au pair in Spain. From there, I became a Spanish major (and French minor) and have been working with the language ever since!

I am a bilingual Mandarin-English tutor with extensive experience teaching ESL, Mandarin Chinese, and music to students of different ages and levels. Consequently, an effective teacher must have the patience to support and encourage students through topics in which they may struggle. An effective teacher must also possess a commitment to their students so that those students may trust that their teacher will not waiver even when they struggle.By collaborating with colleagues, an effective teacher is able to continually gain methods for explaining topics to students. This is extremely helpful when students are finding a concept to be difficult and creates the possibility for differentiation within the classroom. Curriculum development is also more successful when it is created collaboratively with other colleagues. Technology can further enrich the curriculum by providing visual representations of the mathematical concepts being taught. Often times, the use of technology can make the difference between a student truly understanding something and a student merely working toward a passing grade. In todays schools, students are highly motivated to use technology.As a mathematics instructor, you will observe my knowledge, patience, commitment, collaboration, and use of technology on a regular basis. Students will be prompted to realize the beauty of mathematics that is all around us on a daily basis within my classroom as a student.

I love teaching and getting to know my students! My goal in every course I teach is to make the complicated simple and easy to understand. I have taught a variety of subjects and age groups. I currently teach psychology and statistics at Glendale Community College and plan to teach other courses there in the future. I am very excited on the first day of every semester to meet my new students! It is my goal to make all the material relevant and interesting. I want my students to be as excited as me to learn each and every class. While I currently teach college students professionally, I still really enjoy tutoring younger students. I have worked with students from kindergarten all the way to 12th grade, teaching math, computers, English, and Spanish. Dusty is my real name. Outside of learning I love to make things from yarn and sewing. More than that, I love to be outside in my garden and have as many adventures as possible. I am also a mom to a little boy who also loves to be outside. Together, we watch movies and TV. In everything I do, no matter how fun or not, I try to learn something. When helping someone else learn, I learn too. The spark in a student's eyes when they understand the problem they are working on bring such joy to my life it is hard to describe. I have been teaching English online to students from Spanish speaking countries, Chinese speaking places, and students from South Korea. These students have been 3 to 83 years old. I love teaching students from other countries, I learn so much while helping students learn. It is like traveling from the comfort of home.

I am an Indiana University Bloomington graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a concentration in creative writing. I recently completed the coursework for English teacher licensure at Northern Illinois University, and I am beyond excited to provide individualized learning opportunities for students all over the country! I am passionate about working with students to specifically satisfy their personal needs. No student is exactly the same, and it is imperative for educators and students to establish a system of trust and create a positive educational experience together. I'm very calm, patient, and open-minded. I have experience with a large range of age groups in a large range of subjects. I've worked in classrooms of ESL elementary students, middle school students, and all different grades of high school students. I am flexible, adaptable, and confident that I am a good fit for anyone looking to improve their reading, comprehension, and/or writing skills.

I have been helping students understand calculus, improve their reading comprehension, and excel on assignments and tests for more than five years. I strive to not only prepare students to exceed academic standards but also to be critical thinkers and curious, well-informed human beings. I recently completed a dual degree at Indiana University and moved to New York to take a gap year before beginning graduate school. As a scholarship student at IU, I majored in economics, cognitive science, and piano performance. Outside of tutoring, you can find me playing or teaching piano, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching TED talks, running, or trying a new food or cooking technique.

I am currently pursuing a Bachelors degree at Indiana University Bloomington, majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Psychology and Japanese. I tutor multiple subjects, but I enjoy tutoring Algebra and Japanese the most. At Indiana University Bloomington, I am pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have a lot of experience working with students and would like to further my expertise. In the past, I have babysat, worked at camps, been a teaching assistant, and tutored. I like watching children learn and grow, and educating them is an excellent way to do so. I have the skills and knowledge to instruct students on any topic if they are in the fourth or lower grade. Aside from teaching, I like running, tennis, and spending time with my friends and family.

I'm currently a sophomore at Indiana University. I'm majoring in finance and information systems, with an investment banking track focus. I'm very comfortable with numbers so I enjoy teaching middle school, high school level, and college level mathematics, accounting, and economics.

My professional development over the past decade has revolved around two distinctive yet overlapping fields of pursuit. I have worked consistently as an educator, particularly in language arts, writing, and literature. I work with students of all ages and skill levels, and I am especially interested and experienced working with students who have special needs. Along with teaching, I am also a freelance editor and consultant, primarily for people working in higher education. I collaborate with educators on their academic writing; most often academic texts and research books and articles.This work allows me to utilize my talent and passion for language and literature, as well as my passion for education. As an editor, I help enable esteemed scholars and academics craft their written work to make their specialized knowledge available and accessible to educators and students. Some of my past collaborative efforts have resulted in the successful publication of scholarly articles, books, textbooks, dissertations, collections of plays, essays, translations, and short stories. My most recent collaborative project was nominated for a literary award for outstanding translation of contemporary Russian fiction.I received a BA in French and English from Indiana University in 2007, and graduated on the Dean's list with honors, and won the prestigious Quinten B. Hope award for excellence in French Language Studies. I studied one year at the University of Provence, in Aix-en-Provence, France. I am a fluent French speaker, interpreter, translator, and writer in French. I also have taught French and English in schools, camps, and tutoring sessions. I studied Rehabilitation Counseling at Hunter College in graduate school, and hope to continue my studies in education and one day soon be a public school teacher.I love working with children, and there is nothing else that gives me a greater sense of fulfillment. I have worked with children of all ages from infancy to adolescence as an advocate, instructor and counselor. I have worked as a yoga instructor, camp counselor, language instructor, soccer coach and assistant teacher of art. I have supervised and created classes designed specifically for children with special needs and learning disabilities. I also have had the opportunity to work for the Time In Arts Initiative. Time In is a grant-funded outreach program working to provide enrichment through arts to Pre-K students who attend underserved and struggling public schools in the Bronx and Manhattan. At Time In I was able to combine my interests by working both as an assistant art instructor and grant writer for the program.I believe that the role of an educator is to identify ways to make information accessible to every student. I want to instill in every student the confidence to ask questions and seek information. I believe that encouraging curiosity is what allows for successful learning.
