I love math, computers, and music! My bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees focused on music education, and music composition using computers. My special focus has been combining math and music. To me, math is a puzzle. All you need to do is learn how to put the pieces together. I can help with that! I was a university professor for 18 years at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, Dartmouth College, and most recently Florida International University. I left college teaching in 2010 to start the Atala Montessori School for Creative Expression in Homestead, FL. I taught 4th through 8th grade math classes for in-person and online students for the last eight years. The 7th grade class was pre-Algebra and the 8th grade class was Honors Algebra I. I also ran after-school chess and math clubs.

Learning can be a challenge, but that's ok. No one is great at every facet of school or of life. Asking for help when you need it is always the best option. I would love to help out any student struggling with the subjects listed on my profile.

Every student learns a different way and it is the tutor's responsibility to figure that way out. This may include some trial and error. I am a high school history teacher who has also worked as a teaching assistant at one of the country's top 10 colleges. I've taught ACT/SAT prep for about 4 years to students at all ends of the academic spectrum: from those working with learning disabilities/accommodations & struggling with timing to those trying to achieve perfect scores.
