About Me

I grew up in Northeast Portland and got my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon in 2007. From there I went on to teaching overseas in first Kenya followed by Nicaragua then Romania and lastly Japan. I knew I had a passion for teaching by this point so I returned to Portland and earned my Masters in Teaching at Concordia University in secondary level English Language Arts. I am now working towards adding an English as a Second Language endorsement. In each of the aforementioned countries, I have tutored students between the ages of nine years old to 47 years old. My daughter who is almost three, is my newest student. I am most knowledgable in tutoring English Language Arts and prefer elementary to high school grades and subjects. From my experiences, I know that hands-on learning that is relevant to the student is the best way for a student to retain information. I like to be creative with learning and get excited to use music, exercise, art, and the environment in my teaching for example. Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband and two young daughters, exercising, gardening, reading, eating good food, photography, dancing and enjoy outdoor activities.
