As an educator, I believe that the best way for a student to learn is for the student to understand how to learn. While how each student learns is different, the need for an encouraging and warm environment is universal. I have worked in many different educational settings, including as a teaching assistant in the Broadcast Department in the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication, as an online course designer for the Department of Defense, and as an instructor in the Business Communications Department in the Price College of Business. Though these positions have been strikingly different, one thing has stood out to me: Creating a space for open dialogue between a student and an instructor is key for any student to feel comfortable as well as capable of learning. I am a native Oklahoman, holds a Master of Professional Writing and a Master of Library and Information Studies, both from the University of Oklahoma. I have worked as a blogger, ghostwriter, freelance journalist, and technical writer.
