While working towards my Chemistry degree at the University of Oklahoma, I worked as a chemistry, biology, and Spanish tutor both through the University and via self-employment. It has always been my greatest passion to help someone navigate with ease a subject which they have previously regarded as difficult or stressful. I would describe my tutoring philosophy as one where I do less talking than necessary--it's my belief that engaging my student in this way will improve their learning exponentially, while also making the session considerably more enjoyable! I am now working towards my Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Chicago and tutoring part time. I am available for online as well as in-person tutoring.

To me, learning is exciting and fun! I aim to improve your student's scores AND their relationship with learning. I like to try a variety of teaching methods to find how your student learns best. I have gained my teaching expertise through eight years of teaching in every kind of classroom imaginable. I led an afterschool program and kids camp for five years we taught in the classroom, in parks, and online for K- 12 grade! I recently received my master's degree in American History from the esteemed University of Oklahoma. There I had the opportunity to teach history to college students. My specialties are history, government, reading, writing, creative writing, reading comprehension, performance arts, philosophy, study skills, and testing. I love teaching the humanities. I utilize many standardized materials for the student to practice with. I also like to become acquainted with the materials the student is using at school and bring these materials into our sessions. I believe the students build alot of confidence when they go into their classroom knowing that they have seen the material before. If you select me I will give you a call and we can discuss your goals for your child and I will rise to meet your expectations! I have always performed well in my classes in the humanities. I not only excelled in writing, performance, history, philosophy and such but I loved these subjects growing up and desire to give your student the same passion. I can't wait to meet you and your student!
I'm a graduate from the University of Oklahoma where I received my bachelor's degree in journalism. After graduation I received my certification to teach technology education (audio/video specialties), journalism, and English Language Arts (which includes reading, writing, literature, and speech).I'm currently practicing my fifth year of teaching in the public school sector. In my experience, I've tutored a variety of students which include, but not limited to AP students, gifted and talented, on level, special education, students with learning disabilities, and ESL students. I focus specifically on English Language Arts and literature which includes reading comprehension, reading fluency, writing (all styles) techniques, analysis, verbal skills, etc.My favorite subject to tutor is English, because I believe that if a student does not have a strong reading and writing foundation, they are more likely to struggle in other academic areas. Being sufficient in ELA creates success in math, science, and social studies. Being a strong reader and writer provokes confidence, because you're able to comprehend and verbalize on a higher level. My teaching philosophy is centered on the notion that learning needs to be student centered. The student takes a great role in their own learning process. My job as the instructor is to ensure the student has the proper tools and resources to be successful, but the student must take it upon themselves to partner with me to effectively and successfully use these tools to learn. My role is to be a facilitator. I provoke critical thinking, evaluation, and analysis. I set high expectations, because I believe that a goal oriented student is a successful student. I keep lessons interactive, and although I provide a sensible level of rigor, I'm always there to support the student and to encourage them to get the most out of their learning.Outside of academia, I enjoy being active, baking/eating, participating in church activities, and spending time with my family. I especially enjoy anything that allows me to combine all of these elements together (for example festivals, fairs, concerts, etc.).
I had never worked as a formal educator before this past school year, and one of the many things I learned was that watching elementary school students learn to read is FASCINATING.I also learned that kids like me, and tend to be glad to work with me because I'm not a normal stodgy grown-up.
Hi, my name's Eric, I worked as an Electrophysics Engineer/Scientist for a major aerospace company, but what I love doing is tutoring. I tutor Science and Math subjects from High School to College level.
I have a master's degree in Science from the University of Oklahoma and am a PhD student in Chemical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma with an emphasis in catalysis design, as well as reaction engineering. I am passionate about my profession, and I enjoy helping people in whatever I can. I think the base of a better society starts from our being the best versions of ourselves.I also have a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering form the university of "La Sabana" (Bogota-Colombia) with awards for academic excellence (Witt Scholarship - First Place). I am an honest and responsible person seeking to reach goals effectively and efficiently. My Professional background is on R&D in heterogeneous catalysis and reaction mechanism. However my bachelor degree provides me with a biological background because of my thesis project on fungus proteins as a bio surfactant. I am a hardworking person who is continuously seeking improvement of myself and my environment.I enjoy teaching all that I know to people. I find all of the knowledge we can learn while tutoring really interesting. I have been tutoring for the last 4 years and it has been one of the best experiences I have ever had.If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and we can discuss it together."Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better"Albert Einstein
I am a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. I received by Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. I have mostly tutored privately on my own time in one on one sessions. I mostly enjoy helping others with math and science related problems. Education is necessary to improve life and I want others to realize this. In my spare time I enjoy thought provoking literature.
I have a BS in Physics with my specialty being astrophysics. I plan on returning to graduate school and making my life long career the study of physics and the universe around us. I have a passion for helping others understand the world around us, whether that is helping someone to understand a concept or working myself to understand new concepts. I have tutored many high school students while I myself was in high school. I have come to realize that often struggles in a particular subject are not the student, but a lack of concept building blocks. Many times students are taught to memorize facts and methods, and when posed with new questions they don't have the tools to actually apply them. Supplying them with the fundamentals and first principles allows them to build upward in their skills and actually learn the concepts behind what they are working one. I found in high school that so many do not learn the basics and it tints how they learn more advanced subject matter.
As a student at the University of Oklahoma, I studied Math, Finance/Accounting, and Botany. Although I have many subjects I can tutor in, Math is my absolute favorite! My passion for teaching started in high school, when tutoring my classmates became a part of my daily life. From English and History to the upper-level math courses I took at Rose State during my senior year, I have always been a resource for understanding and comprehending materials by connecting with my clients and tailoring study techniques to each individual. Whether it's finding tips and tricks to make homework easier, or structuring an entire studying regimen to promote success in the future, I can ignite the fire for learning in any student.I volunteered as part of my school district's gifted student program, and I taught and competed in academic competitions such as quiz bowl! During my senior year, I also had the amazing opportunity to be a teaching assistant for a Special Education math teacher. Although the process of learning and retaining knowledge presents a unique challenge to these wonderful students, the joy of education is universal, and much more rewarding with the hard work it takes to make everything 'click'! When I am not working with students, you could find me: in the kitchen, cooking foods from around the world (with names I can hardly pronounce); in front of the computer, playing video games and listening to music; or outside, hiking/gardening/swimming/reading on a hammock (weather permitting!) I love learning new languages and studying new subjects.I am currently the Technical Program Manager for the Business Intelligence team at my company, which includes developing applications, training 1000+ users, and constantly expanding my own knowledge. While this takes up a good chunk of my schedule, I love to take time to translate my new skills into more effective teaching methods.
I believe that no two students are exactly alike and that every mind deserves an equal chance to reach its fullest potential. I am also confident that no one branch of study is set apart. Instruction is most effective when it appeals to a student's particular passions and interests in order to stimulate curiosity and engagement in a course of study. A student's strengths should be celebrated, but they should also be utilized to facilitate growth in other areas.
