I am a graduate of Yale University. I received my Bachelor of Engineering Science in Chemical Engineering. Since graduation, I earned a certification to teach English as a Second Language, and traveled to Beijing, China, where I taught at both primary and high school levels (including several math and Physics high school courses). While I tutor a variety of subjects, I have always had a particular passion for math and Chemistry. In high school, I led the Ohio ARML Math team, and earned a gold medal in the State Science Olympiad tournament for the Chemistry Lab event. I bring the experience I gained competing in and writing for a variety of academic competitions to my students when I teach or tutor them, and I love the excitement of pushing students to reach and expand their potential, as well as the fun that comes from a student seeing a question a new way and understanding it on a different level. I know that education and brain-training are necessary for not just success, but fulfillment, in life. In my spare time, I enjoy crossword puzzles, running, bouldering, trivia, and watching a variety of sports (both American and international).

I'm currently a third-year Computer Engineering major with a Mathematics minor at the Washkewicz College of Engineering at Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio.
I am currently a Gifted Intervention Specialist, teaching advanced mathematics to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders on a daily basis. This is my third year being in this role.
I am a graduate of McGill University (BA First Class Honors) and the University of Edinburgh (MSc First Class Honors with Distinction) with over eight years of tutoring experience. I am currently a curriculum developer for a company which creates relatable and culturally-literate courses for middle and high-schools, and am particularly adept at communicating and explaining concepts in a quirky, engaging, and intelligent manner. I was named Scotland International Young Thinker of the Year 2014 for exactly that sort of work. Much of my tutoring background is in test-prep and essay coaching, which I enjoy because it allows the tutor and student to think strategically together, and work as a team to achieve concrete results. I have worked with students ranging in age from 6-32, and believe that, in an educational context, a few jokes never hurt anybody. I love reading and learning, and my educational approach is centered around making the material just as engaging to students as it is to me. I think J.K. Rowlings, the writer of Harry Potter, is just as brilliant as Stephen Hawking, and in my free time, I manage my (terrible) fantasy baseball team, write songs for my comedy band, and crack jokes about terrible science-fiction movies with my friends.
I am a Yale graduate with over 8 years experience tutoring students from a variety of backgrounds. I recently graduated from the Yale School of Public Health with a MPH concentrating in Epidemiology and Global Health. I also received my B.S. from Yale with a double major in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and French. I have experience both leading group classes and working with students one on one. I will respond to a student's strengths, weaknesses, and learning style in order to help them succeed and make the most of our time together. I earned a perfect score of 36 on the ACT, 2280 on the SAT, and qualified as a National Merit Scholar on the PSAT. I look forward to working with you!

I am a Yale grad, Johns Hopkins master's candidate, and certified early childhood educator. At Yale, I studied History and Child Development. I went on to teach with Teach For America, and I am currently in my 3rd year of teaching. Tutoring has been an interest of mine for many years. I started tutoring when I was in middle school, and I haven't stopped. I thoroughly enjoy working with students of all ages to help supplement their learning. I am looking forward to helping your child to meet his/her goals!
I am a 2nd year medical student at Northeast Ohio Medical University and have tutored K-12 and college students over the past 10 years in various subjects ranging from math and science to SAT prep and language arts. My educational background includes an MPA in Development Practice from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, a B.S. in Molecular, Cell, & Developmental Biology, and a B.S. in Mathematics-Economics (both from UCLA). In addition, I have scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT, ACT, and GMAT exams and scored in the 95th percentile on the MCAT. I really enjoy working with students of all ages and backgrounds and believe all students are capable of learning and being successful with the right approach to education. I would love the chance to discuss in more detail what kind of tutoring you or your student is interested in and thank you for your consideration!
I am a current student at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in English and minoring in journalism and art history. I am very passionate about literature, writing and history, and I love sharing my knowledge and learning new things. In the past few years, I have worked with young children learning to read and high school Latin students, and I also love working with students on improving Standardized Test results. In my spare time, I love reading, music and anything active!
I am currently a sophomore at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, majoring in Human Development with a minor in Education. I tutor a variety of subjects, I am the most passionate about English. I have previously tutored high school English, focusing on thesis development, grammatical skills, and creative writing. My experience creating weekly curriculums for students in preschool through 12th grade as an activity facilitator for Chautauqua Institution allowed me to refine many of my teaching skills. I was especially enthusiastic about my lessons on poetry and nature literature. Although my interest in teaching began in high school, my Education minor has given me more hands-on experience working with students. The minor has also introduced me to new teaching methods, as I have been able to dissect education theory and policy. In my free time, I read a lot of non-fiction, draw, and watch the West Wing.
I am currently a senior at Johns Hopkins studying Biomedical Engineering. I have a lot of experience tutoring in math, physics, chemistry, and thermodynamics. I have also proof-read essays for college applications and english classes as well. Outside of school I like to cook, play basketball, and listen to music.
I am excited to be tutoring. In my experience teaching, I have learned that empowerment in a subject is a combination of efficient guidance from me and a willingness to improve from my students. By signing up for tutoring, students are already taking the first step to mastering whatever areas in which they may be having difficulty. I won't do all the work for my students but I will never leave them to figure out everything by themselves, as that defeats the purpose of a tutor. I will constantly assess understanding during the learning process, thus gradually giving my students the confidence that they have moved into deeper understanding of material. With the right instruction, everyone is capable of overcoming those problem subjects, and I am happy to help along the way.

Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students from across Brunswick's 11 schools with personalized tutoring support. Whether your student attends a school in the Brunswick City School District or transfers in from surrounding areas, we match them with tutors who understand Ohio's academic standards and can support their specific coursework and learning goals.
Brunswick schools maintain an average student-teacher ratio of 17.5:1, which means many students benefit from additional personalized attention outside the classroom. One-on-one tutoring provides the focused instruction that helps students catch up on gaps, deepen understanding of challenging concepts, and build confidence—something that's difficult to achieve in larger classroom settings.
Tutors are familiar with Ohio's Learning Standards and work with students to master grade-level expectations in math, reading, science, and social studies. They tailor instruction to address specific areas where students need support, whether that's preparing for Ohio's state assessments, strengthening foundational skills, or advancing ahead in their coursework.
During the initial session, the tutor gets to know your student's learning style, current academic strengths, and areas needing support. They'll discuss specific goals—whether that's improving grades, preparing for a test, or building confidence in a particular subject—and create a personalized plan for ongoing instruction.
Math and reading are the most common areas where students seek tutoring support, particularly as concepts build in complexity from elementary through high school. Many Brunswick students also benefit from tutoring in science, writing, and test preparation for standardized assessments and college entrance exams.
Varsity Tutors offers flexible tutoring packages to fit different budgets and schedules. After you connect with us, we'll match your student with a qualified tutor, and you can discuss frequency, duration, and any specific academic goals during your first consultation.
Tutors are experienced educators and subject matter experts who understand Ohio's curriculum standards and have a track record of helping students succeed. Each tutor is carefully selected based on their expertise in specific subjects and their ability to connect with learners.
Many students see noticeable progress within 4-6 weeks of consistent tutoring, though the timeline varies based on the subject, the student's starting point, and how frequently they meet with their tutor.
