I am a graduate science student from Bergen Community College (BCC). Currently, I am a senior student at Rutgers University. I am majoring in Biological Sciences with a focus on Health and Society. I have worked as a tutor for more than 3 years. Also, I became certified as a Supplemental Instruction leader or more known as in-class tutoring. I have helped students privately, doing online sessions and in one-on-one appointments in person. I am truly passionate about Mathematics, Science, and Spanish. I promote independent learning. This means that students will learn not only to improve themselves in their own discipline, but generalizable skills that will make them a better student and learner. As a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology I have developed a range of skills and expertise that will help my students flourish. To me, learning has been a life-long passion. I try to bring my passion to my instruction in order to make the learning fulfilling beyond the classroom. Finally, my approach to tutoring is one of patience, collaboration, and humor.In terms of my background, I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and History from Rutgers University, a Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), and am currently completing the final requirement for my PhD at CWRU.During my years in and out of academica I have worked to developed my expertise in reading comprehension, writing, and psychology. For instance, I have taught numerous undergraduate courses in the topic of psychology and research methods. These courses have included working to help students develop their understanding of psychological concepts and methods, improve their reading comprehension, and master their writing. Moreover, I have worked to develop a teaching approach that centers the individual students needs and desires while adding evidence-based motivational and executive functioning skills to enhance student's ability to learn. In sum, my tutoring approach is individually flexible while embedded in universal methods and skills. This approach will help students master their discipline of interest but also help them develop skills that they can take to other challenge areas in the future.Outside of academia, I am an avid reader of history and politics, I enjoy attending live music concerts, and have a great love for vintage clothing.I look forward to meeting you soon!

I completed a rigorous training program in Elementary Education while working with Teach for America before shifting my focus and transitioning to the NYC Teaching Collaborative, a competitive residency which allowed me to teach and train under the direction of master teachers while pursuing a teaching degree. I was awarded a Master of Science degree in Adolescent Education, specializing in English, from St. John's University in 2018. I shifted to remote teaching in 2019 to continue giving educational access to students in underserved communities, which is one of my primary passions within teaching. I possess a reciprocal teaching certificate through the State of New Jersey and am also in the process of obtaining an additional certification from the National Virtual Teachers Association to enhance my virtual and remote teaching methods.

I am very passionate about math, and this past spring semester, I had the opportunity to tutor in my school's tutoring center, and run a workshop (pre-algebra/algebra level). I have a lot of experience working with students. I started working with students when I was in eighth grade. From eighth grade to my junior year of high school, I helped teach students Hebrew. In my senior year of high school, I worked at my local YMCA's aftercare program, where I was also a camp counselor for the past three summers. Regarding my teaching style, I like to go step-by-step, and take one question at a time. I believe that education is crucial because it allows us to learn about a topic, and take our knowledge to better the world. Outside of academia, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing video games, watching television, and taking beautiful walks around my neighborhood and other areas.

Generally, I will be tutoring math fields, as I believe that I am well versed in those fields and will be able to thoroughly explain whatever the student needs. To add on to that, I also have a belief that can be summarized into a quote,: "Good teaching is more a giving of right questions than a giving of right answers." This quote essentially summarizes my philosophy as a tutor, that the value being comprehensive and covering topics of need far surpasses that of giving countless tiresome problems of which give diminishing returns.
