My love for English began in my childhood reading Tony Hillerman, R.L. Stine, and Mary Higgins Clark. At the High School of Fashion Industries, my English class read Macbeth - "You should be women, and yet your beards forbid me to interpret that you are so..." My English teacher, Dr. Bobo, would call me to read with her, and we intertwined together like in a dance. No other student reached my enthusiasm. I am a graduate of Hunter College. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Film and English. I also graduated from City College with an M.S. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). After graduation, I began to teach ESL as an Adjunct Instructor in Canal Street. Languages are amazing because they are pieces (letters, sound, words) that students need to put together to use in practice. I love teaching pronunciation, reading, writing, and listening. With students, I am patient and answer all their questions. To have fun, I use games, you tube, songs, and movies. Learning English or improving someone's English definitely improves a student's quality of life in America.

I am a graduate of Western Michigan University, where I majored in Elementary Education. After I graduated, I moved out to Arizona for a teaching job. I taught in the classroom for five years. I have taught one year of fifth grade Math, two years of third grade, and two years of second grade. Aside from my classroom teaching, I have several years of experience tutoring children of all ages in Reading and Math. Although I have many years experience in teaching and tutoring all subjects, Math is my favorite subject to teach. I graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Art History and Child Development and completed my master's degree in Communications at the American University of Paris.I am a former classroom teacher at a wonderful Houston charter school, as well as several different schools around the world. I have worked with students from kindergarten to middle school in many different subject areas. I love the learning process, and figuring out how to best design a lesson for a specific student so that learning is fun, engaging and meaningful.For me, learning is not about drilling memorization facts. My ultimate goal with students is to make a connection with them and bring alive pre-algebra, phonics, the questioning mechanics of the SAT - whatever the student is learning. When a connection is made, we can bridge the gaps and make learning fun and lasting. Everyone can be a math person, everyone can love grammar, everyone can write a stellar paper. Every student is different, and every student can achieve success.In my free time I love running (I'm training for my second half marathon!), reading and watching documentaries.
