I am a graduate of MIT. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with minors in Management Science and Ancient and Medieval Studies. Since graduation, I have started my PhD at Georgia Tech in Operations Research. Throughout my career I have TA'd several math and computer science courses at the college level. I have also taught at summer programs for gifted middle school and high school students. I am passionate about tutoring kids in math and science because I think that a strong foundation in STEM at an early age can set the tone for their future. In my spare time I like to engage in athletics, and was a Division 1 rower in college.

I am a graduate of Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American History. I recently received my Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and began my career as an attorney. I am passionate about continuing my work in education through tutoring. I enjoy tutoring many subjects, particularly History, SAT Reading and Writing, College Essays, and Spanish. I love assisting students in implementing simple but effective changes in their preparation for Standardized Tests that show immediate results. I find this motivates students to continue through struggles in their educational pursuits. When I am not working, I enjoy yoga, running, cooking, traveling and playing the cello.
I'm excited to use my experiences as a Harvard grad, bio nerd, high school science teacher, and college prep administrator to help you reach your academic goals!
I am extremely passionate about academics and learning; the value of each was inculcated into me at a very young age. I tutor a variety of subjects largely because I have so many areas of interests and have been privileged enough to pursue knowledge in those areas. I even enjoy tucking away "useless facts"...in fact, those very tidbits got me past the Jeopardy! Online Test and into the Contestant Audition!
I am passionate about helping students learn, reach their goals, and have some fun in the process. I am a speech-language pathologist by training with five years of prior research experience studying language recovery after stroke. I received my Bachelor's degree from Rice University and my Master's at Georgia State University. I have successfully helped students achieve their academic dreams with higher SAT/ACT scores and top-of-the-class grades. My teaching philosophy is student-centered, interactive, and individualized to each student's goals, needs, and strengths.
I am a college sophomore at Brown University. I've been involved in tutoring and mentoring since high school, and I'm excited to get to continue with that work here on Varsity Tutors! My past experiences include working as an instructor at a math learning center for K-12 students, as well as private tutoring for middle and high school students. I would describe my teaching style as conversational; my goal is always to work with you to find a perspective on a topic that makes sense to you. I find that I like to I emphasize a concept's relevance and applications while providing explanations, as well as by providing useful practice scenarios or past examples.
I am an undergraduate student at Washington University in St. Louis majoring in Neurobiology (B.S.) and minoring in Jazz Studies and Biomedical Physics. While I tutor many areas within math, science, and standardized test preparation, I am most passionate about biology and algebra because of my interest in these subjects as well as my belief in their importance. I have always been the friend who fellow peers go to for guidance with work and because of this, I have learned the value of patience, communication, and empathy in the education process. I firmly believe that every subject I tutor is vital in a student's path to success and a greater understanding of the world, and because of this, I will fully commit myself to making sure my tutees have a solid grasp of the concepts being taught as well as the ability to apply them to real-world situations.
I am here to help you succeed. But what does it mean to succeed? I think success is not simply a matter of knowledge or ability; it is also about attitude and confidence. Through working with me as your tutor, I hope to help you develop your confidence in your abilities and cultivate a positive attitude that allows you to tackle any challenge that comes your way.

In my spare time, I love playing/watching sports and travelling around the world (when possible!).

I am a PhD Student in Linguistic Program at the University of Georgia. I received my Master’s degree in English Education at University of Missouri. My area of study is language acquisition and language learning process. As a native speaker of Chinese, my previous teaching experience includes working with bilingual Chinese American children in a Chinese language school and teaching English to the students in Chinese middle school, I am currently an instructor of the linguistic class at UGA. My past experience enabled me to gain excellent teaching skills as well as the ability to work with learners from different language backgrounds and age groups. I believe that language learning is not merely absorbing the linguistics of the language, but also the culture attached to it. I am passionate about Chinese language tutoring and willing to help students prepare for Standardized Tests. Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students from across Valdosta's 26 schools and all three school districts with personalized tutoring. Whether your student attends a school in Lowndes County Schools, Valdosta City Schools, or another local district, we match them with tutors who understand the specific curriculum and academic standards they're working with.
Tutors work with students on Georgia's specific learning standards across subjects like math, English language arts, science, and social studies. With personalized 1-on-1 instruction, students get targeted support on the exact skills and concepts their school is focusing on, whether that's Georgia Milestones preparation, AP coursework, or foundational skill gaps that hold them back in class.
Valdosta students frequently seek tutoring in math (algebra, geometry, precalculus), English language arts, science, and test preparation for Georgia Milestones and the SAT/ACT. Many students also benefit from support in subjects like chemistry and biology where hands-on understanding is critical, or in writing skills that support success across all subjects.
While Valdosta's average student-teacher ratio is reasonable, individual students still benefit enormously from personalized 1-on-1 attention. A tutor focuses entirely on your student's specific learning style, pace, and gaps—something that's difficult in any classroom setting. Research shows that personalized instruction can dramatically accelerate learning, especially for students who need to catch up or get ahead.
During the first session, your tutor will assess your student's current level, discuss their academic goals, and identify specific areas where they need support. This might involve reviewing recent schoolwork, understanding what's happening in their Valdosta classroom, and creating a personalized plan for the weeks ahead. The tutor will also establish rapport so your student feels comfortable asking questions and making mistakes—both essential for learning.
Pricing varies based on the subject, tutor expertise, and how frequently your student meets with their tutor. We offer flexible options whether you're looking for weekly ongoing support or intensive help before a test or deadline. Contact Varsity Tutors for a personalized quote based on your student's specific needs.
