I am now a Dean's List sophomore at Oglethorpe University.

I am a graduate of MIT. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with minors in Management Science and Ancient and Medieval Studies. Since graduation, I have started my PhD at Georgia Tech in Operations Research. Throughout my career I have TA'd several math and computer science courses at the college level. I have also taught at summer programs for gifted middle school and high school students. I am passionate about tutoring kids in math and science because I think that a strong foundation in STEM at an early age can set the tone for their future. In my spare time I like to engage in athletics, and was a Division 1 rower in college.
I am extremely passionate about academics and learning; the value of each was inculcated into me at a very young age. I tutor a variety of subjects largely because I have so many areas of interests and have been privileged enough to pursue knowledge in those areas. I even enjoy tucking away "useless facts"...in fact, those very tidbits got me past the Jeopardy! Online Test and into the Contestant Audition!
I'm excited to use my experiences as a Harvard grad, bio nerd, high school science teacher, and college prep administrator to help you reach your academic goals!
I am a graduate of Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American History. I recently received my Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and began my career as an attorney. I am passionate about continuing my work in education through tutoring. I enjoy tutoring many subjects, particularly History, SAT Reading and Writing, College Essays, and Spanish. I love assisting students in implementing simple but effective changes in their preparation for Standardized Tests that show immediate results. I find this motivates students to continue through struggles in their educational pursuits. When I am not working, I enjoy yoga, running, cooking, traveling and playing the cello.
I am passionate about helping students learn, reach their goals, and have some fun in the process. I am a speech-language pathologist by training with five years of prior research experience studying language recovery after stroke. I received my Bachelor's degree from Rice University and my Master's at Georgia State University. I have successfully helped students achieve their academic dreams with higher SAT/ACT scores and top-of-the-class grades. My teaching philosophy is student-centered, interactive, and individualized to each student's goals, needs, and strengths.
I am here to help you succeed. But what does it mean to succeed? I think success is not simply a matter of knowledge or ability; it is also about attitude and confidence. Through working with me as your tutor, I hope to help you develop your confidence in your abilities and cultivate a positive attitude that allows you to tackle any challenge that comes your way.
I am a college sophomore at Brown University. I've been involved in tutoring and mentoring since high school, and I'm excited to get to continue with that work here on Varsity Tutors! My past experiences include working as an instructor at a math learning center for K-12 students, as well as private tutoring for middle and high school students. I would describe my teaching style as conversational; my goal is always to work with you to find a perspective on a topic that makes sense to you. I find that I like to I emphasize a concept's relevance and applications while providing explanations, as well as by providing useful practice scenarios or past examples.
I am an undergraduate student at Washington University in St. Louis majoring in Neurobiology (B.S.) and minoring in Jazz Studies and Biomedical Physics. While I tutor many areas within math, science, and standardized test preparation, I am most passionate about biology and algebra because of my interest in these subjects as well as my belief in their importance. I have always been the friend who fellow peers go to for guidance with work and because of this, I have learned the value of patience, communication, and empathy in the education process. I firmly believe that every subject I tutor is vital in a student's path to success and a greater understanding of the world, and because of this, I will fully commit myself to making sure my tutees have a solid grasp of the concepts being taught as well as the ability to apply them to real-world situations.
I'm Rob, a 2015 Stanford Graduate and full-time writer living in Atlanta, Georgia. I have four years of experience tutoring and am excited to work with any students on SAT test prep, as well as any college or high school essay writing. Please reach out, and we will set up time for a session!
I am a recent graduate of Rhodes College, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with a minor in Chemistry and English. After graduation, I have remained close to academia by auditing classes in the areas of Anatomy and Physiology, Organ Systems, Histology, Embryology, and Neuroscience.
I am a PhD Student in Linguistic Program at the University of Georgia. I received my Master’s degree in English Education at University of Missouri. My area of study is language acquisition and language learning process. As a native speaker of Chinese, my previous teaching experience includes working with bilingual Chinese American children in a Chinese language school and teaching English to the students in Chinese middle school, I am currently an instructor of the linguistic class at UGA. My past experience enabled me to gain excellent teaching skills as well as the ability to work with learners from different language backgrounds and age groups. I believe that language learning is not merely absorbing the linguistics of the language, but also the culture attached to it. I am passionate about Chinese language tutoring and willing to help students prepare for Standardized Tests. By integrating cultural aspects into my teaching, I expect my students to not only develop solid language skills, but also to be able to think in that language, which serves as the soul of that country and people who speak it. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, cooking, cycling and yoga.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students from all six schools across Brookhaven with personalized tutoring support. Whether your student attends Brookhaven High School, Cross Keys High School, or any of the elementary and middle schools in the area, we can match them with a tutor who understands their specific curriculum and academic goals.
Personalized 1-on-1 instruction is highly effective for helping students master Georgia's standards at their own pace. Tutors work directly with your student on the specific concepts they're struggling with—whether that's Georgia Standards of Excellence in math, ELA, science, or social studies—providing targeted practice and immediate feedback that classroom instruction alone often can't offer.
While Brookhaven schools maintain a 14.9:1 average student-teacher ratio, which is reasonable, individual students still benefit greatly from personalized attention focused solely on their learning needs. One-on-one tutoring fills gaps that even attentive classroom teachers can't address when managing a full class, helping students build confidence and close learning gaps faster.
Students in Brookhaven most frequently seek tutoring in math, English/language arts, and standardized test prep (SAT and ACT). We also connect students with tutors for AP and honors-level courses, as well as foundational skills support in elementary and middle school. The specific subjects depend on each student's grade level and academic goals.
In the first session, your tutor will assess your student's current understanding, identify specific areas of challenge, and learn about their learning style and goals. This foundation allows the tutor to create a personalized plan for the following sessions that directly addresses your student's needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
Varsity Tutors connects students with expert tutors who have deep subject knowledge and experience teaching. Tutors are carefully selected and vetted to ensure they can effectively support students in Brookhaven's schools, whether that's helping with core academic subjects or test preparation.
Scheduling is highly flexible and designed around your family's needs. Whether your student needs help after school, on weekends, or during the week, Varsity Tutors works to find a tutor whose availability matches your schedule. This flexibility makes it easier to fit consistent tutoring into a busy Brookhaven student's life.
Pricing varies based on the tutor's qualifications, the subject, and the frequency of sessions.
