I am a senior Psychology, Spanish, and Religion major, and I have been tutoring for over ten years. I love working with students of all ages, and I have five years of experience working with students with learning differences! I specialize in English literature, writing, learning differences, and Spanish.

I'm a graduate student studying to obtain my MBA. My background is in healthcare and science, I have two bachelor's degrees, one in biology and the other in pharmaceutical sciences I also have a minor in chemistry. Along with my strong background in science I'm also well versed in literature and English. As a graduate student I don't have a lot of free time but when I do I enjoy running, reading and playing tennis.
A graduate of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, I received a Bachelor's degree in Pure & Applied Biology and a PhD in Cell Biology and Genetics from the University of Ibadan. Over the course of my educational training, I have had the opportunity to travel extensively to places like Sweden, Italy, France, The Gambia, Ethiopia, Uganda and the UK. These opportunities have provided several sound platforms to acquire skills and broaden my horizon as an educator. I sincerely love teaching and I am passionate about biology. I genuinely care about my students. I am committed to helping students understand the complexity of biology employing different active learning strategies that encourage engagement, critical thinking and application of the knowledge in real life. I enjoy spending time with my family, singing, reading, traveling and I play Badminton when I have time.
I am a graduate of MIT. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with minors in Management Science and Ancient and Medieval Studies. Since graduation, I have started my PhD at Georgia Tech in Operations Research. Throughout my career I have TA'd several math and computer science courses at the college level. I have also taught at summer programs for gifted middle school and high school students. I am passionate about tutoring kids in math and science because I think that a strong foundation in STEM at an early age can set the tone for their future. In my spare time I like to engage in athletics, and was a Division 1 rower in college.
I'm excited to use my experiences as a Harvard grad, bio nerd, high school science teacher, and college prep administrator to help you reach your academic goals!
I am a graduate of Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American History. I recently received my Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and began my career as an attorney. I am passionate about continuing my work in education through tutoring. I enjoy tutoring many subjects, particularly History, SAT Reading and Writing, College Essays, and Spanish. I love assisting students in implementing simple but effective changes in their preparation for Standardized Tests that show immediate results. I find this motivates students to continue through struggles in their educational pursuits. When I am not working, I enjoy yoga, running, cooking, traveling and playing the cello.
I am extremely passionate about academics and learning; the value of each was inculcated into me at a very young age. I tutor a variety of subjects largely because I have so many areas of interests and have been privileged enough to pursue knowledge in those areas. I even enjoy tucking away "useless facts"...in fact, those very tidbits got me past the Jeopardy! Online Test and into the Contestant Audition!
I am passionate about helping students learn, reach their goals, and have some fun in the process. I am a speech-language pathologist by training with five years of prior research experience studying language recovery after stroke. I received my Bachelor's degree from Rice University and my Master's at Georgia State University. I have successfully helped students achieve their academic dreams with higher SAT/ACT scores and top-of-the-class grades. My teaching philosophy is student-centered, interactive, and individualized to each student's goals, needs, and strengths.
I am here to help you succeed. But what does it mean to succeed? I think success is not simply a matter of knowledge or ability; it is also about attitude and confidence. Through working with me as your tutor, I hope to help you develop your confidence in your abilities and cultivate a positive attitude that allows you to tackle any challenge that comes your way.
I am an undergraduate student at Washington University in St. Louis majoring in Neurobiology (B.S.) and minoring in Jazz Studies and Biomedical Physics. While I tutor many areas within math, science, and standardized test preparation, I am most passionate about biology and algebra because of my interest in these subjects as well as my belief in their importance. I have always been the friend who fellow peers go to for guidance with work and because of this, I have learned the value of patience, communication, and empathy in the education process. I firmly believe that every subject I tutor is vital in a student's path to success and a greater understanding of the world, and because of this, I will fully commit myself to making sure my tutees have a solid grasp of the concepts being taught as well as the ability to apply them to real-world situations.
I am a college sophomore at Brown University. I've been involved in tutoring and mentoring since high school, and I'm excited to get to continue with that work here on Varsity Tutors! My past experiences include working as an instructor at a math learning center for K-12 students, as well as private tutoring for middle and high school students. I would describe my teaching style as conversational; my goal is always to work with you to find a perspective on a topic that makes sense to you. I find that I like to I emphasize a concept's relevance and applications while providing explanations, as well as by providing useful practice scenarios or past examples.
I am a PhD Student in Linguistic Program at the University of Georgia. I received my Master’s degree in English Education at University of Missouri. My area of study is language acquisition and language learning process. As a native speaker of Chinese, my previous teaching experience includes working with bilingual Chinese American children in a Chinese language school and teaching English to the students in Chinese middle school, I am currently an instructor of the linguistic class at UGA. My past experience enabled me to gain excellent teaching skills as well as the ability to work with learners from different language backgrounds and age groups. I believe that language learning is not merely absorbing the linguistics of the language, but also the culture attached to it. I am passionate about Chinese language tutoring and willing to help students prepare for Standardized Tests. By integrating cultural aspects into my teaching, I expect my students to not only develop solid language skills, but also to be able to think in that language, which serves as the soul of that country and people who speak it. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, cooking, cycling and yoga.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students from across Macon's 55 schools and all three school districts with personalized 1-on-1 instruction. Whether your student attends a school in Bibb County Schools, Houston County Schools, or another local district, we can match them with a tutor who understands Georgia's curriculum standards and the specific academic challenges students in your area face.
Georgia's standards require strong foundational skills in core subjects, and our tutors are experienced in helping students master the Georgia Standards of Excellence across math, English language arts, science, and social studies. With personalized instruction tailored to your student's pace and learning style, tutoring addresses gaps early and builds the confidence students need to meet grade-level expectations and perform well on state assessments.
In Macon, students most commonly seek tutoring in algebra and geometry, where many struggle with foundational concepts that build throughout high school. We also see strong demand for English language arts support—particularly essay writing and reading comprehension—as well as test prep for the SAT, ACT, and AP exams. Science tutoring, especially biology and chemistry, is another area where personalized instruction makes a real difference for students preparing for college.
Macon's average student-teacher ratio is 14.9:1, which means many students don't get the individualized attention they need in traditional classrooms. With personalized 1-on-1 instruction from Varsity Tutors, your student gets a tutor's full focus—allowing for customized pacing, immediate feedback, and targeted help on the exact concepts holding them back.
During the first session, the tutor will assess your student's current level, discuss specific academic goals, and identify areas where they need the most support. This might involve reviewing recent test scores, homework challenges, or concepts from class. The tutor will then create a personalized plan and start building a foundation for ongoing progress in future sessions.
Absolutely. Many Macon high school students work with tutors to prepare for the SAT (which ranges from 400-1600) or ACT (scored 1-36), and personalized test prep is one of our most popular services. A tutor will help your student understand test-specific strategies, practice with real questions, build speed and accuracy, and target weak areas—all at your student's own pace rather than in a large group setting.
