Elementary Math Tutoring review by Thien--Gia in Folsom, CA
The student brought home some of her work from school today. We sat down, and I gave her practice problems to work on as I reviewed her worksheets. She told me that she needed more time to work on her worksheets in class. Overall, she does need some help, but she's getting it, and she's very excited whenever she does get the right answer.

For this session, the student practiced the reading comprehension skill of finding the information in the story. He did well with this skill. He was introduced to the skill of adding 2-digit numbers with regrouping. He did well with this skill once he had practiced a few problems. Great job! He also wanted to learn multiplication. So, he learned and practiced multiplying by 0 and 1. He caught on to this quickly.

The student and I reviewed most of her homework that is due after break. We are starting to work on counting by 1's and 10's to 100. We also are starting to do more writing. I'm very happy with the progress she has made with her reading, writing, and spelling. She is improving every time I meet with her.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Calcutta in Folsom, CA
Today, the student and I reviewed adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions. We also reviewed converting fractions to mixed numbers and dividing with 3 digit numbers. He should practice multiplication facts. He should also take a portion of the lower level verbal ISEE test. He can use resources to find definitions of any words he doesn't know; I am mostly interested in the processes he might use to complete the test, the time he takes to complete it, and how confident he feels about the vocabulary words.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Samuel in Folsom, CA
In this session, we worked on a couple of math websites and did one or two of the hard-copy worksheets. The student did a very good job with the early problems he was presented with, and he even got most of the early multiplication and division problems right, but after about 40 questions it wanted him to move on to more advanced math. The second site allows you to choose more specific topics, and we worked on patterns and measurement. He did well with these topics and seemed to enjoy them. We finished up with a couple of worksheets that were more similar to what he has been doing in school, focusing on basic addition and subtraction. He did well with these sheets.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Leora-Dona in Folsom, CA
I worked with Student 1 on finding fractions to complete a whole number. Because he has a pretty good foundation with fractions and this was building on the previous lesson, this was an easy task to complete. Student 2's lesson covered polygons, which he at first confused with quadrilaterals, but came to understand that it's any closed figure excluding circles. This was a fairly easy lesson for him.
