Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the propagation of signals in neurons as well as started covering muscle cells and contraction."
"We covered SHM. The student has a clear idea of the concepts but was having difficulty in solving some of the problems. We will work more on them next weekend."
"We covered constellations in science. We also covered writing essays and key points in essays, moving on to words he needs to know for his test on Wednesday."
"Today we started acid-bases. We covered the Arrhenius and Bronsted-Lowery definitions, how to calculate pH based on hydrogen concentrations, how to calculate pOH based on hydroxyl concentration and the ionization of water (Kw). In addition, we did some problems that cover how to identify conjugate acids and conjugate bases. Finally we did extra practice problems involving how to calculate pH from the hydroxyl concentration by relating pOHlog(OH) to pH+pOH=14. Next week we plan on going over the disassociation of weak acids and weak bases and recover the disassociation of strong acids and weak bases."
"We had a good introductory session. The student plans on taking one of the SAT biology subject tests in June, and we will work together to prepare him for it. We spent today's session getting to know each other and talking through a practice exam on the SAT biology web site to get a feeling for where he is at with biology material. He remembers quite a bit once he gets going, but the details are a little muddy in places. Our next session will be after he is done with his spring classes, so he can focus more on preparation for the June biology SAT, and we will set up a regular schedule starting then."
"The student and I reviewed the science and math sections of the ACT. We worked through the seven different sections of the science section as well as some of the math section. We focused on geometry, which she has already covered in school."
