I received a B.S. degree in Chemistry and Biology at Valparaiso University (3.7 GPA). I have been tutoring students for 6+ years. I primarily tutor students in middle and high school science and math. My favorite subjects to tutor are chemistry and biology. I have previous experience as a teaching assistant for the chemistry department as well as a peer mentor for the general chemistry course at Valparaiso University. In addition, I began my college career as a secondary education major and have completed coursework in several education courses with classroom fieldwork before ultimately switching majors to pursue my passion in science. Currently, I am a second year PhD student at UT Southwestern-Medical Center located in Dallas, TX.

My teaching philosophy is that every student has the capability to be successful; however, every student learns differently. I tutor to cater to each individual by understanding how they learn best. I often guide students through problems such that they learn how to take the proper steps to arrive at the answer themselves. When appropriate, I ask plenty of questions to get students thinking and make connections to their interests to make learning fun. My goal is to have students start thinking of questions and making connections on their own to develop life long learning habits! I am also always happy to assist in study skills such as time management and organization. I LOVE helping a student discover their love for learning, and even more, showing them that they can be a rockstar at science and math, the "hard" subjects, regardless of what they want to do when they grow up! Problem solving skills can be translated to any field, and I want my students to go into the world feeling confident that they can tackle anything.
