About Me

I have been in education for nearly 15 years. Throughout that time, I have worked with myriad students, ranging from 4th grade to high school. The majority of my classroom experience has been in upper elementary, but I worked extensively with high school students during my time as a tutor at a private tutoring center. My primary interests are History, English, and Writing, and I enjoy watching students learn to love and appreciate these subjects. It is often difficult for students to see the importance and relevance of History. I make it my mission to impress upon them just how significant History is and their place in it. I also understand what SAT and college level writing looks like. I also have experience with Algebra, a subject which I have come to gain a much better understanding of. This helps me relate to struggling students because I can often make the Algebra make sense to them the way I had to have it make sense to me. My last tutoring experience was with a special needs girl who I believe really benefited from my services. The mother could not stop telling me how much more confident she was in her ability and how I helped her come out of her shell. I recently finished my Master's degree with designs on becoming an administrator. It is for this reason that I want to gain experience working with all different types of children. In my spare time, I enjoy watching and playing sports and spending time with my family. I also like to read books about historical events and people and work on jigsaw puzzles.
