I am currently a senior attending the University of Notre Dame, and I am pursuing a degree in the Program of Liberal Studies (PLS). PLS is a renowned Great Books program that aims to perfect the student's ability to think critically in a variety of disciplines, such as literature, philosophy, and history. In PLS, great emphasis is placed on formulating deep and effective arguments and presenting them clearly in a technically correct manner, both in class and through my written work. Consequently, I have had much practice writing and editing my own work as well as editing that of my classmates. I am also pursuing a minor in education and am seriously considering pursuing a career in the educational field after graduating. I am passionate about helping others learn to the fullest extent of their abilities while enjoying the subject at the same time! Hobbies: running, reading, music, writing, art, books

I am a writer of nearly ten years. In this realm, I have focused mainly on short fiction stories as well as the odd novel. In another life I also taught yoga regularly for a year, a discipline in which I learned to teach from my own experience and convey myself in front of large audiences.

I am a PhD student in Animal Biology at UC Davis and am currently in the process of finishing my dissertation. I study the proteins that are involved in membrane fusion -- for example, when the sperm and egg cell membranes fuse together during fertilization. I have a Master's in Education and a BA in Human Biology from Stanford University. I love working with students of all ages and do my best to make learning relevant and fun. I look forward to working with you!

I am known among friends for my love of puzzles, riddles, word problems, and mathematical challenges. I have a deep knowledge of pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calculus and a passion for teaching it. I also enjoy tutoring Spanish. While foundational vocab and grammar are important, I emphasize speaking and encourage my students to take risks. I believe embracing discomfort is critical to learning a language. Spanish has helped me to travel and live in different communities throughout the world. I strive to kindle a similar appreciation and passion for language in my students.

I am an experienced Mechanical Engineer currently trying to make my way into the product design arena. I recently moved to Oregon from Michigan in pursuit of this goal! I am a graduate of Luther College, a liberal arts school in Decorah, IA. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Religion, with a minor in Social Welfare. Throughout college, I tutored many students in high school and college level math. I loved the process of helping people through math problems, so after graduating I served in the MN Math Corps as a Math Enrichment Tutor, where I learned research based teaching methods to tutor middle school students who were below proficiency in math. Currently, I am certified to tutor a broad range of math subjects ranging from elementary math to pre-calculus, as well as ACT Math and GRE Math/Verbal test prep. Through my experience, I've found that the best method of tutoring is to tailor it to each student's learning style (every concept can be taught/understood in multiple ways), and make sure the student actually understands what he/she is doing versus just learning equations and methods to complete assignments. I am very passionate about tutoring math as I love empowering people, and I believe mathematics is a vital subject to learn and understand. In addition to tutoring, I have worked as a data analyst for a market research firm near Chicago. In my free time, I enjoy keeping up on current events, reading (I love Harry Potter and Hunger Games!), Ultimate Frisbee, playing guitar and piano, and learning economics.

I'm outside, I like to skateboard and try to land new tricks, either on my street or at the skate park.
