We began the session by working with addition and subtraction with borrowing and regrouping through the hundreds. Again, I worked with the student to draw the visual representation of the problem. He seems to get the idea of regrouping and borrowing mixed up so for the future I plan on working just with one skill rather then both in the same session. We then moved to visual representation of multiplication problems. He shows great confidence in his ability to understand the concept and problems. We then moved to work on division problems. He seemed that grasp the concept pretty quickly, so without telling him I gave him a problem in which he was going to have a remainder. He was able to identify that something was wrong because there were items left over that didn't get grouped. We talked about what to do with them and that we needed to include them in our answer as the "remainder". We then continued working on money and counting totals by counting on. We reviewed the value of each coin and placed them on a number line in order to count on and come up with a total. He did well with his fluency of quarters and we introduced the idea of 4 quarters equaling a dollar and the same with 10 dimes.
