I am currently working towards a BS in Music Education at Case Western Reserve University. In the past I have worked with middle school orchestra students at an arts summer camp, where I was a volunteer Teacher's Assistant. During this camp I ran sectionals with small groups of students and sat in with the violinists to help individual students in large group rehearsals. I have some tutoring and organization experience by working with my high school's chapter of the California Scholarship Federation, where we offered free tutoring to other high school students. I am most passionate about tutoring algebra and pre-calculus, because I really enjoy the problem-solving aspects of math. I also tutor English and SAT prep. In my free time I enjoy cooking, reading, and practicing as many different instruments as I can get my hands on!

I'm Sunay, I'm from Cleveland and currently a Junior at Emory University majoring in Finance and Information Systems. I've previously worked at the Harvard Management Company and will be joining Bank of America as a investment banking analyst in New York. As a current virtual ACT and peer tutor and volunteer tutor for underprivileged students, I have gained experience in instilling important research, writing, analytical, and mathematical skills in my students. I'm happy to help students with Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Geometry, Precalculus, and AB Calculus. I'm also happy to help students editing, writing, or outlining essays for any AP or regular English class or for college essays. I am a second year student majoring in biochemistry at Case Western Reserve University. Outside of Varsity Tutoring, I tutor high school students every week in Math, English, and standardized tests. Music has always been a passion in my life, and it excites me to help students to fall in love in music. One of my favorite experiences in tutoring was when I taught a dozen children how to play basic notes on the recorder in Papua New Guinea (tropical island in South East Asia).

I am a full-time college student in the honors program at my university studying English Literature, Film & Media Arts, and Psychology. When tutoring, I specialize in English and am also experienced in tutoring select high school and college Psychology classes. I am a highly engaged tutor who incorporates success coaching into her sessions. I am not only here to help you or your student improve in a subject area, but also to teach study habits, provide encouragement, and work as a role model for becoming a lifelong learner.

An effective educator must be able to recognize each individual student's learning style and to adapt the lesson to accommodate that style. Also, each student has a different rate of learning. Thus, the lessons must be directed not only towards ensuring the student masters the material but also keeps the student engaged in and enthusiatic about the education process.
