I am a graduate of the University of Chicago, with a bachelor's degree in psychology and linguistics. Currently, I am pursuing a master's degree in speech-language pathology at Teachers College, Columbia University. In the past, I have worked as a teacher's aide in a public school classroom, a mentor to middle school girls, an instructor and tutor at the literacy education organization 826, and a summer camp counselor. I tutor a diverse range of subjects, and I find that I especially enjoy tutoring language arts, reading, and writing at all levels, from elementary school all the way up to college/grad school test prep. As a tutor, I am committed to helping students reach their full potential as learners. Throughout my years as an educator, I have seen firsthand the remarkable academic growth that can occur when tutors provide students with the individualized support that they need. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, journaling, and learning about other languages and cultures.

I am a recent Bachelor of Science from Cornell University, where my studies revolved around applying life science research to health and social studies. I have served as an undergraduate teaching assistant for several courses, and specializes in 1-on-1 tutoring for introductory biochemistry. Biochemistry is my favorite because of how many other disciplines it synthesizes. After achieving a 38 on the MCAT (99.1%), I began mentoring students on test preparation strategies.

I am a rising Sophomore at Princeton University. I am majoring in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, most likely with a minor in Computer Science. During my Junior and Senior years of High School, I tutored a few students on a regular basis. I specialize in Math and Science. More specifically, my strongest subjects are Algebra 1/2/3, Geometry, Trigonometry and ACT Science. I have always found the maths and sciences to be both the most interesting subjects, but also the most applicable to real world problems - this is why I chose to major in what I did. Because I usually tutor in Math, I often tutor in the style of showing how to do a few problems step by step, and then having the student try a few more difficult problems, asking questions along the way. I do this because in my experience, this is the best way to learn and prepare for Math related exams. Outside of academics I play Viola, enjoy running and exercising to stay healthy, and listening to all kinds of music.

I am a graduate of Princeton University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature with minors Theater and Creative Writing (and won both Princeton's Creative Writing Award and its Theater Award). I was fortunate enough to have been selected by Joyce Carol Oates as one of her two advisees. Under her guidance, I wrote my first novel. Since graduation, I have been pursuing a career as a freelance theater director and writer. I began tutoring because I am passionate about education and its profound ability to change and improve lives, and I love working with children. In my own experience, having a great tutor had an undeniable impact on my learning, my performance, and my future, and I want to pass on those same opportunities. I tutor children anywhere from elementary school to high school age and also have extensive experience teaching acting and writing. Outside of tutoring, I'm busy in the New York theater scene working regularly on Broadway and Off as well as developing my own work. In my spare time, I love photography, reading, seeing films, and traveling.

I am a Yale University graduate with over seven years of tutoring experience with children and adults of all ages, specializing in writing, reading, English, college prep, and working with differently-abled learners. As a writer and entrepreneur, I have tutored since high school because it is something I truly enjoy. I approach tutoring with patience, and with finding a motivation to learn and excel that is specific to each student. With young adults and older learners, I approach each skill with purpose in reaching their individual goals and dreams, and with younger learners it is all personalize-practice-reward, working with parents and mentors to understand their needs and facilitate their individual learning and success. I'd love to hear from you and discuss how we can make the most out of our time together!

I am recent graduate of Yale University. After an intensive application cycle and four years of college, I hope to be able to impart to others the wisdom I have learned. I have four years of freelance tutoring experience in college admissions and the MCAT. Overall, tutoring is a way that I can support the students who will be in my shoes. Everyone deserves to unlock their full potential, and I can't wait to be a part of that! I love getting to know new people and personalizing education to each specific situation. My teaching style is all about tailoring and individualizing.

I am a rising junior at Princeton University pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy with a certificate in Statistics and Machine Learning. I am highly passionate about education: during the academic year, I serve as a volunteer tutor for the Petey Greene Program, which provides educational assistance to those incarcerated in New Jersey prisons; after graduation, I hope to work toward becoming a high school mathematics teacher. This summer, I am interning part-time at IntegrateNYC4me, a nonprofit that seeks to integrate New York schools. I believe that quality educational opportunities should be accessible to all, and I hope to dedicate my career toward realizing this vision!

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students from across Middletown's 15 schools with expert tutors. Whether your student attends a school in the Middletown City School District or nearby areas, we match them with tutors who understand New York's academic standards and can support their specific grade-level curriculum.
New York has rigorous academic standards, particularly in Math and ELA, with assessments like Regents exams for high school students. Varsity Tutors connects students with tutors who are familiar with New York's curriculum frameworks and can help students master the skills and content tested on state assessments, whether they're preparing for grade-level exams or Regents.
During the first session, the tutor and student get to know each other and the tutor assesses your student's current level, learning style, and specific academic goals. This might include reviewing recent schoolwork, identifying gaps in foundational skills, or discussing upcoming tests or assignments from their Middletown school classes.
Middletown students commonly seek tutoring in Math (algebra, geometry, and Regents preparation), ELA/Reading, Science, and test prep for standardized assessments. We also connect students with tutors for advanced subjects like AP courses, foreign languages, and specialized support for students who need extra help keeping up with grade-level work.
With an average student-teacher ratio of 11.6:1 in Middletown schools, classroom teachers work hard but may have limited time for individualized attention. Personalized 1-on-1 tutoring fills that gap by giving your student focused, customized instruction tailored to their unique learning needs and pace—something that's difficult to achieve in a classroom setting.
Tutoring can help by identifying exactly where your student is struggling—whether it's a specific math concept, reading comprehension, or study skills—and building a personalized plan to close those gaps. Many Middletown students benefit from consistent 1-on-1 support that helps them catch up to grade level and regain confidence in their abilities.
Absolutely. Beyond helping students catch up, tutors can work with advanced learners to deepen their understanding, explore topics in greater depth, and prepare for honors or AP-level courses. This is especially valuable for Middletown students looking to challenge themselves and stay engaged with rigorous academics.
Simply tell us about your student's academic goals and needs, and Varsity Tutors will match them with a tutor who's a great fit. Once matched, you'll schedule your first session at a time that works for your family, and the tutor will begin building a personalized plan to support your student's success.
