Originated as a creative in the music industry in Germany, I found passion in education and am now in a leadership role at a career college in Minneapolis. Because German is my native language, I decided to help people who are interested in learning the language of my home country. Mostly, learning should be about having fun and having a sense of accomplishment at the end. I provide fun and interactive lessons teaching you all levels of German.

I finished my PhD at Arizona State last year, and moved to Minneapolis to co-found a biomedical engineering startup. Before Arizona, I received a BS in electrical engineering at the University of Virginia.Over the past five years I've taught quite a few lab courses, mostly in electronics for biomedical students. I enjoy helping to guide students to a better understanding, so they can explain a concept in their own words (not just in my words). I like to draw out visual explanations whenever possible, for math and science concepts. I've been excited about all kinds of science for pretty much all my life, and I hope I can convey some of this excitement!Outside of academia, I'm into climbing and good board games.

I have been teaching English and writing courses for many years. I have a Master's degree in English and a Bachelor's degree in English Education. I earned my first degree at the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. After graduating with my undergraduate degree I taught high school for two years in Fargo, ND and then decided I wanted to do something different. I applied to grad schools and was accepted to Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. I moved to New Jersey where I went to school and taught for them while they paid my tuition for grad school along with a small stipend. I lived in Jersey for a year and a half and then moved to Brooklyn, NY. I lived there for another year and a half. I missed MN and decided to move back in 2005. I have taught students from 12 to 60 years of age, different cultures, skills and backgrounds; in all areas of English, reading and especially writing. I am passionate and get to know my students. That is partially why I am successful in helping them to achieve their goals and go beyond expectations! Tutoring and teaching is a noble profession and I take pride in being an educator. I will not let a student leave feeling confused or frustrated. My students are successful and gain incredible knowledge of the subject and of themselves.I enjoy the outdoors and all MN sports . I am not the best fisher-person but love it, as well as camping (as long as the mosquitoes are friendly).

I believe that education is the key to success. With a background in cultural sustainability, partnerships, and digital media, I can teach a variety of subjects, including but not limited to: history, algebra, study skills, and coding in python, javascript, and css.

I've been a camp counselor, reading and writing tutor, and teaching assistant for many years and I'm here to help students reach their full potential. Working with people, especially children and teenagers, is my passion, and I am looking forward to all of the opportunities I will have to connect with, instruct, and learn from students.

I am a writer, editor, producer, curator and lover of words. I spent many years holding editorial positions on both coasts (California and New York), but was happy to lay some roots and start a family back home in Minneapolis, a city alive with art, activism and stories waiting to be told. I am excited to help students craft their own words as well as assist with many other subjects, including English, writing, politics and social sciences.

I graduated this May from UC Berkeley with a BS in Chemistry, Highest Honors, and will be starting grad school in chemistry next year at Stanford. In college, I had the privilege of serving as a peer tutor for my fellow students, including those of underrepresented and nontraditional backgrounds. I am able to tutor a broad range of chemistry courses, from organic to physical to general chemistry, as well as math and physics classes. I can also help with test prep for the ACT, SAT, or GRE. I believe that asking questions is the basis of independent learning, so I strive to create an environment students feel that no question is too small to be asked. I love learning, and I hope to spark the joy of new understanding in my students!

Hello! My name is Julia. I just graduated from Macalester College with a degree in Studio Art and a minor in English. I would love to tutor you in writing and reading and/or Spanish. I have experience with a wide range of age groups and subjects. At Project for Pride in Living, I volunteered as a tutor, helping middle schoolers improve their literacy skills after school. As a GED classroom assistant at Hubbs Center for Lifelong Learning, I helped adult learners study for the RLA (reasoning through language arts) portion of the exam. I have taken numerous advanced Spanish classes in high school and college and have studied abroad in Guanajuato, Mexico last year for a semester. There, I lived with a Mexican family and took all of my classes exclusively in Spanish. I believe that learning one-on-one is a great way to improve a skill, form a personal connection, and really excel in a given subject! Hope you will consider working with me!

I am a graduate from Lawrence University where I received by Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Gender Studies. Currently I am a Master's student at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in Counseling Psychology. I hope to become a counselor for high school and college students. While studying abroad in Amsterdam, I tutored English, and during college, I tutored students in French. I also enjoy helping fellow classmates edit and revise their college papers. My favorite subject though is Psychology. I believe students should be given every opportunity to learn and should be excited to learn, and I look forward to encouraging students in their learning. I will guide students, but I believe it is up to them to discover the right answer. In my spare time I like reading, being with my friends, and watching the occasional television show. In Minneapolis, I'm looking forward to attending football and hockey games.

I have taught all grade levels as a special education resource teacher and 9th grade algebra teacher. I have taught in schools in Chicago, Minneapolis, Oakland, and St. Louis. I love to tutor math (algebra especially), phonics, science, and ACT prep. I really enjoy seeing my students grow from intrepid or anxious test takers into confident and able test takers. My main goal is to improve not only the academic abilities of your child but self-esteem around academic pursuits as well. My tutoring style is work hard, play hard! We will definitely have some fun playing games or taking small breaks to get to know each other, but first and foremost we will work to improve weak academic areas. In addition to tutoring I am a certified yoga instructor. I believe that physical discipline through yoga practice better prepares the mind for mental endeavors such as test taking or test preparation. Because we live in such a busy world, yoga allows me the time to turn inward and listen to my mind and body's needs. In my spare time I enjoy camping, biking, and working in my garden.
